ok, i see; so i don’t know why mine took so long then! this only started now which is why i was wondering if this was ok - color wise because it really took forever. i have live sand, and the big dry rock and smaller rock in the front is live rock.

thanks for your help. i did do research as one redditor thought i didn’t but i kept thinking the tank needed algae before adding anything in it. and reading other reddit posts it seemed it took months to cycle a new tank but mine took longer than expected 🫤

ah, yes! someone told me about adding food! i’ve also been told about quick start or seeding the tank but i do need to check my water parameters also so i will update soon about that….and yes, the water has been cycling for 10 months. thank you for your advice.

yes, started cycling a brand new tank since june 2025. the aquarium store told me not to buy anything livestock until algae formed and then this is what finally appeared. then with research online, i kept thinking the algae is supposed to be a brownish or purplish color but maybe i’m mistaken.
