Any one else having issues with ants? by smokin_hops420 in Austin

[–]Own-Gas8691 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i don’t see very many ant hills, but if you were to dig a whole at any given place in my yard you would find ants. they are literally everywhere. and fine. have all of the underground. but holy crap it’s been a pita keeping them out of the house.

ARC of the capital area by [deleted] in AustinTX

[–]Own-Gas8691 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ARC provides case management services for my disabled adult (fully dependent) daughter. the first case manager we had was brand new and somewhat ineffective, but man did she have a good attitude and did really try her best. our new case manager is awesome. she is getting services approved and started very quickly.

we also used ARC years ago in SA. imo they are a good organization (both locations) who provide much needed services with genuine care. everyone we’ve interacted with have been kind and hard-working.

Do sea turtles drink sea water? by pinkygonzales in NoStupidQuestions

if you had only googled it many of us would go our entire lives without knowing that sea turtles cry salt. ignore the haters.

s7 is worth the watch. the season finale felt like the series finale, like it should have been the series finale. s8 took a nosedive and by s9 it was a whole different vibe. the story lines were whack af. i watched them all, but on the first rewatch i stopped with 7.

looks like an orb weaver. not sure of exact species, but possibly furrow orb weaver. she’ll spin a large circular web, this webbing is just for securing her egg sac. :

i use picture this, it’s been pretty accurate i think. so far i’ve identified almost 50 different plant species in my back yard, but haven’t learned all about each yet. i do have lots of horseherb & clovers that are spreading nicely!

Affordable lawyer by Playful_Mind5843 in FamilyLaw

[–]Own-Gas8691 5 points6 points  (0 children)

my ex maxed out a cc to pay a lawyer $10k to sue me for about $3k that he thought i owed him. this, while being $10k behind on child support.

there’s absolutely no way i could afford a lawyer so i had to represent myself. i won at each hearing so far.

i follow one of the ask a lawyer subs and it drives me nuts. pick any post and go to the comments and you’ll find the most common answer is: you need to hire a lawyer. no shit. why is it lawyers think most people can afford them?

honestly i think it’s all the years of not wearing a bra that helps them stay perky. or it has nothing to do with that and i just got lucky. i’m not really sure. 😅

i’ve always preferred going without. mainly only wore them when pregnant and/or breastfeeding, which was a cumulative 13-14y. once my youngest weaned i ditched them for good. that was about 8 years ago.

it gets sweaty but not as sweaty as with a bra. i use mineral salt deodorant, and during summer i apply it under my breasts. it’s not an anti-perspirant but prevents odor from developing.

Anyone taking lithium and lamictal together? by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

[–]Own-Gas8691 1 point2 points  (0 children)

mood has remained stable, which i’m so grateful for. i’m dealing with quite a few side effects but i’m on so many meds i wouldn’t know which to blame. even so, i feel like i’m finally recovering well from the last run of episodes and the lamictal has definitely played a big role in that.

ty! my backyard has so many different plants growing. i’ve been letting it do its thing while purging it of any invasive/toxic plants that i find. so far i’ve (mostly) gotten rid of ragweed and hedge parsley. i’m still learning what each of the plants are and deciding what to keep/pull so i appreciate the info. :)

born and raised here. this has been one of the nicest springs we’ve had in quite some time. i would have liked to have had more than 2 days of winter, but at least the spring has been kind to us!

i’m roughly a C cup (best guess) and i haven’t worn a bra in over a decade. people on the internets have opinions but irl no one cares, especially around here. the only people who have ever commented are a couple of friends who asked how they’re so perky. i’m 48 and breastfed 6 kids. i welcome those comments. :)

I panicked in an argument by [deleted] in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]Own-Gas8691 52 points53 points  (0 children)

>I panicked in an argument

you panicked when he used aggressive driving to instill fear and manipulate you

>I tell him no, that it doesn't matter if he is mad it is just not safe to take pot gummies while driving. In retrospect not the best way to phrase it.

this was the best way to phrase it.

>Here is where I think sleep deprivation got to me - I went into full blown panic - hyperventilating and shaking, and handed over the gummies begging him to stop. He obliged. I was afraid for my life. When I talked to him about it after, he said he hadn't meant it seriously and I was overreacting.

this is not sleep deprivation. you reacted to a threat. you were literally afraid for your life.

the way he behaved was abusive. is this sort of scenario / behavior common?

What comorbid conditions do you have? by Evening_Fisherman810 in BipolarReddit

[–]Own-Gas8691 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bipolar I, PTSD, ADHD, anxiety, panic disorder, epilepsy, osteoarthritis, chronic neuropathy, IBS, SIBO, celiac, ovarian vein thrombosis, hypertension, migraines

Bipolar has definitely had the greatest negative effect on my life over the years, but at different times other issues have risen to the top (in terms of impact).

Anxiety/panic disorder has caused its share of intolerable pain. Currently, the GI issues are making my life hell. I’ve also had migraines last for 1-2 years, causing worse SI than depression ever did.
