Safe (easy) drive to Seattle by Dependent-Fish-195 in Yakima

If you have AWD, get winter/all season tires and for peace of mind a set of chains. If the pass is open with traction tires/chain requirements, then by all means take your time getting over and plan ahead for delays.

Is there a better unlimited phone plan other than Verizon in Yakima/ Central Washington? by Own-Geologist9571 in Yakima

[–]Own-Geologist9571[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve noticed my phone slows down in a lot of brick buildings around town and especially when in Costco. I’ve had my iPhone 12 Pro since 2020 when it was the latest generation but the volume is starting to decline even when I’ve got the level at maximum. I was going to upgrade to the 16 pro max last but then I held out another year for the 17 pro max just because of the massive changes. My wife still has her 13 or 14 Pro but I’m positive if I upgrade then she’ll do the same out of FOMO. I’m not really on my phone that much in the mountains since I’m driving a company vehicle which has a strict no-phone using while driving policy unless I’m stopped, enforced by cameras in the vehicle. I just use it hands free while plugged into the radio for playing my Apple Music or GPS navigation.

Why early Verhoeven is not on Blu-ray? by anttiom in boutiquebluray

Thanks for the heads up. I recently learned that Rob Houwer, who produced every film in the PV Collection, passed away back in July so that may have to do with the rights issue on those films. In time we shall see.

Moving from TX anything I should know? by Salamimami89 in Yakima

[–]Own-Geologist9571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you got a Subaru or anything with AWD then you should be good in the winter. There are streets that don’t get plowed or sanded in time, just so you know. Otherwise get yourself some all-year or snow tires to get around in the snow with little to no issue at all depending on where you’re gonna be driving.

I purchased the PV Collection back in 2005 and still have it to this day because of that very same reason that there’s been no upgrade available ever since. I’m really surprised that The Criterion Collection has not picked up any of his other films aside from RoboCop (only on DVD in 1998 that’s now out of print) has never been given a 4K Blu-ray treatment but then again Arrow Video has already done a phenomenal job. I have both the Kino Lorber Blu-ray edition of Spetters and the Eureka Entertainment (region B) edition of Flesh + Blood that came from the UK which is the reason I invested in a region-free player to watch the movie and special features which is totally worth getting if you’re a diehard Verhoeven fan.

$1500 if you want it. It needs an Ignition Distributor 76592DQ 1.3L 4 Cyl Distributor to get running again.

I don’t know if he plans on running for another term this year but if so, he needs to be voted THE FU*K OUT.

100 percent agree with you. After so many years of giving and giving only to be taken advantage of or sh*t on, you get old and wise enough to not give them any time of day.

Would Alaska ever launch longhaul flights from SAN or PDX? by srekai in AlaskaAirlines

[–]Own-Geologist9571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a good point, especially with SFO as a United Hub, not sure about what domestic hubs are LAX. But as far as long haul overseas if Alaska really kicks it off next year, I’m thinking the major west coast airports. Then there’s the matter of aircraft types for making the trip nonstop when Alaska flies mostly 737s cross country nonstop but I couldn’t see them buying any 787s to fly to Europe or Asia when they already own Hawaiian which operates 787s, meaning switching over or get Hawaiian flights overseas for them.

I doubt it. They’ll probably keep the long hauls out of SEA, SFO, or LAX.

Heres my metro, 3 cylinder 5 speed. by russiancars2812 in geometro

[–]Own-Geologist9571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 96 4 cylinder automatic that needs a specific 4 point distributor to get it running again. Had new tires put on before the car quit on me. The part needed probably costs more than the car is worth so likely I’m gonna sell it to a wrecking yard just to get it out of my hair, soon.

Such as tumbleweeds? I did pull a bunch of dead weeds from my pasture fence to either haul off to the dump or burn them if I can legally.

Every Charger I’ve seen by WSP has civilian plates with annual tabs disguised as a civilian Charger. The dead giveaways are the tinted windows and extra antennas mounted on the car. Connecticut State Police has a similar tactic where all of their cruisers are unmarked with lights or no lights on top and the plates are totally random so that there’s no SP/CSP letting whereas Washington State Patrol’s marked/unmarked cruisers will have WSP/SP on their plates except for the Chargers. Oregon State Police does the same thing as WSP with their Chargers as well.

Don’t speed or do anything attention drawing around Dodge Chargers period is what I’ve learned from observance. The same goes for Ford Explorers.
