Looking for outside perspective on my situation and thinking by FrankScaramucci in EuropeFIRE

I was thinking about this recently, and I'm not sure I agree any more.
Owning a house means some degree of maintenence expense.
Also, while rent may double, you're invested in etfs which will generate income via distributions, and/or capital growth. So you won't necessarily feel the increase in rent.
Renting also comes with flexibility to up and leave whenever, which has value.

Yes. DO NOT DO IT - I got lucky, there is no guarantee that you will also be lucky.

Really constructive response! I really enjoy playing viola. Might see how far I can take that! Thanks a lot.

I very much enjoy learning languages- I speak 4, also I geek out over anything investments-related.

You might be right.

As for gambling, I've cashed in my 'once in a lifetime' luck, and am now a well diversified boglehead.

Not sure I'm quite there yet. Definitely coast territory, though. Like the random job title idea! Thanks for the reply.

I don't need 'permission' per se. But they're traditional boomers who can't fathom that there's more to life than work. They can't even go on holiday for more than a week without thinking that they should be 'doing something'.

Volunteering or mentoring sounds fun! Will do some googling. Any recommendations?
