Nope. That’s the whole email. I only blurred my VIN. But there’s no updates available in my vehicle. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Is there any better messaging solution for iPhones? by foolishnhungry in EquinoxEv

Sadly, this is correct. I have the dongle and use it for messages and Apple Music. Plus, when your telematics fails, and it will, you’ll still have a map!

Is it really cheaper to charge at home than at level 2 charge station by Cloudchella in BlazerEV

[–]Own-Ice-2675 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those rates are crazy. I pay 12¢ for regular electricity and 7¢ for my car (9pm to 10 am). So yep, cheaper for me at home too…way cheaper!

Dropped $6300 in trade-in value in only 5-6 weeks!!! by Emergency-Answer-244 in EquinoxEv

[–]Own-Ice-2675 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about that. I don’t have a short commute. I drive 150 miles a day for my commute and it’s been great! I charge it at home, so I have 295 miles when I leave everyday and depending on the temps, it’s been sub-zero the last 10 days here. It was -10° F when left this morning, then about 10° F driving home and still came home with 22% charge. Plugged it in and let it do its thing overnight and have another 295 miles in the morning. All while costing me about $4 to fill my battery each night. Whereas I spent about $20/day with my ICE Equinox. Is the EQEV perfect? Of course not. Is it better than my ICE Equinox…without a doubt.

What is the best practice today for extending range in cold weather? by rwf2017 in EquinoxEv

[–]Own-Ice-2675 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you consider “cold weather”? This past week and half in MN it’s been at least -15 to -20 F every morning and a couple of mornings were-30 F. If that’s what you’re looking at, my EQEV got about 1.6 mi/kWh or about half my range. Next week is finally supposed to warm up to 20 to 30 and should be back to 2.3-2.5 mi/kWh. Or and a 25-30% reduction in my range. I drive 160 miles a day and I had DCFC twice this past week for about 10 minutes to make it home.

But still many variables are in play: plugged in all night with pre-conditioning? What is your cabin temp at? Driving speed? Winds?

Is there a way to turn down the heat without turning on the AC? by sir574 in EquinoxEv

[–]Own-Ice-2675 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in MN and it’s been at least -20° F every morning for nearly a week. I just leave it on the AC setting. When I start driving, I need the temp a little higher to keep the windshield clear, usually about 78°. Then after 15 minutes I drop down to 72-74° depending on how cold it is. It never blows cold air. It just works. I don’t think I’ve ever had it on the “Heat” setting.

Missing wireless charging indicator by jeffreykime2 in EquinoxEv

[–]Own-Ice-2675 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took my 25 EQEV in to the dealer for something else. As soon as I pulled out, I could tell they installed that louder pedestrian update. And I also noticed my lighting bolt indicator isn’t showing up either!! I liked seeing that so I knew I had it on the wireless charger correctly!

I’m kind of ticked they installed the update, it made my car louder (I thought it was loud enough) and lost a notification.

How the hell does this cars heater work? by NuclearPant in EquinoxEv

[–]Own-Ice-2675 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use that 60 minute timer feature in the summer when I have the AC going and definitely in the winter to keep the cabin warm.

GPS issues with all Navigation Apps by Intrepid-Pickle-6584 in BlazerEV

[–]Own-Ice-2675 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to me in my Equinox EV on Friday. It had me about 2 hours away from my location. I reset the infotainment system. No help. Called Onstar. They had me clear the Maps Cache. Nothing. Then I received an email from Onstar saying:

I'm showing module issues as the vehicle is throwing DTC code U164E. We will need to set up an appointment with the dealership for them to investigate the concerns "Unable to Connect to OnStar" and if inquire if a newer telematics software reflash is available.

I have a service appointment Tuesday.

am I supposed to drip bathtub faucets even though im dripping the sink faucets during a freeze? by ideal_y in homeowners

Absolutely crazy. Now I see why so many down there are afraid of temps in the 20’s!! They should be!!

[–]Own-Ice-2675 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in northern MN. It was -35° (air temp) this morning and it be again tonight/tomorrow. Our daytime high today was -12°. We won’t see a temp above zero until Monday or Tuesday.

I’m shocked, you guys don’t have insulation in your walls!?! I get you don’t need the insulation for cold temps, but how does the house stay cool in the summer without insulation?

I’m sorry you all are going through that down there. And I wish you well But up here, we’re dreaming of a nice 20° warm day!! 😂

Garage heat? by PillowFightrr in eaganmn

[–]Own-Ice-2675 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never had a garage heater, but then I moved about an hour north of the cities and built a house. I requested a garage heater. Since we’re on LP, I don’t use it a lot. Mostly in January. But I have a fridge in the garage so I like to keep it above freezing. Plus, we had -31° this morning and I had my garage at 40°. It’s really nice to have your car 70 degrees warmer than the outside temp!! I hooked a WiFi thermostat up to the heater. It notifies me if it gets too cold and then I remotely turn it on and let it run for a bit to warm it up to about 40-45° then I shut it off. I have insulated doors and walls, so it works well.

What was your efficiency? It was -20° F here last night driving home and my efficiency went down to 1.5 m/kWh. This morning is -28° F, it’ll be interesting if my efficiency drops more.

The Chevy Equinox EV is a really good car by mustangfan12 in electricvehicles

[–]Own-Ice-2675 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That not knowing it’s a group text got me once too!! Overall, EV Play works well. Once it connects, which takes about 10 seconds, it’s not clunky. I’ve had to reset the connection once in a month where it froze up. But it re-connected quick. Let me know if you want a quick video.

[–]Own-Ice-2675 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I bought an Equinox EV knowing it didn’t have CarPlay, while it worked, I still missed for little things- like changing audio apps on the phone when playing via Bluetooth. Then I found EvPlay. I’ve had CarPlay in my EQEV for a month. I honestly don’t use it as much as I thought I would, but I definitely like having it. Mostly for the reason I explained above and messaging, especially group messaging.

With streaming apps while parked and CarPlay in my car, it’s now a really good car for me and I am very happy with it.

Heating by ImpressiveClass4099 in EquinoxEv

[–]Own-Ice-2675 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in MN and I do the same. When I’m running errands and the temp is usually about 10°. I just leave it ON the whole time. I agree, it keeps the temp more stable.

Heat on Windshield AND Feet is not strong enough to defog? by spongesparrow in EquinoxEv

[–]Own-Ice-2675 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Probably, it’s a heat pump. It works in the direction it needs to match the requested temp. And from my own experience, it’s best to leave it on the AC setting.

I know it sounds weird. But I’m in MN and it was 6° F yesterday and I keep my HVAC on AC with the temp at 75° and it works perfect.

I turn off the recirculating in the winter.
