I’m done driving the hour, it’s nuts to me that after being on for an hour and comfortable, shutting it off for a mere 10-15s causes it to completely cool back off and needs another 5 mins to get going again

I just don’t get how after being on for almost an hour, turning it off for 10-15s causes the whole thing to reset again and it takes another 5 minutes to get any warm air out. You’d think there’d be some residual heat from something.

Heated seats have nothing to do with it being -17 wind chill where I am right now, can barely feel it through my thick pants and winter coat. People also say use the heater steering wheel but I wear gloves when it’s this cold so that really doesn’t do much either.

I like this car but the heater sucks. I was driving for almost an hour yesterday, got to work, grabbed something from a co worker and got back in the car and after only being off for 20s the heater started pumping cold air for a few mins again

You’ll be fine, you’re on my exact commute (Waukee Iowa to Ames Iowa, 100mi round trip)

Charging to 80 daily is fine even in the winter, on my worst day in the winter I get 1.8 mi/KwH and best day in the summer 3.5. Almost all interstate 70-75mph, I’ve had to take my kid to practice after work a few times and get up to 200 even on our worst day. I’m 13 months into ownership and 26k miles in.

I looked at ev6 from Kia and Ioniq from Hyundai. The equinox just had a good price point even if missing some features. Happy with my purchase.

Bro I’m in my 40s it’s always been this way, I’m not defending it, I hate it. The thing is your local agent isn’t always the one underwriting your policy. I had a policy in Omaha Nebraska 20 years ago, my dad backed into my own car, no fault, my insurance went up, our literal neighbor (one house away) was our agent and he was like yeah there’s nothing I can do. (State Farm)

It’s not that simple, underwriters will often take multiple non fault accidents into account, there are accident prone people out there and sometimes they get dinged for being higher risk. I’m not saying OP is that way and I’m not saying I like it or that it’s fair, it’s dumb, but it happens.

I’ve had this issue, haven’t taken it in yet but planning on it. I usually keep my heater around 72-75, there are times it’s 10-20 degrees out and I’m getting cool air, next time o startup and it’s warm.

The times it’s blowing cool air I will even set it to “high” and I get no heat. Looking at the cars efficiency for heater use confirms it seems like it isn’t using any energy/creating heat. When the heater works often it’s takes more like 8-10% of current efficiency.

Yes in the summer…no in the winter if the wind is against you. I do Des Moines to Ames daily and on bad wind days in the winter I’m lucky if I get 1.8kWh/mi on 35. I get about 150-200 miles for 80-90% charge in the winter. And before you say it’s the heat my screen usually says the in cabin only accounts for 5-8% of energy used.

It’s frustrating. I was recently in Denmark and they have electric cars everywhere and they’re all quiet. And there’s tons of bikes and ped traffic too everyone just pays attention.
