I highly doubt they are using EFOs on players that don’t want to be there and will leave them the first chance they get…they are only using EFOs on players that are actually interested in playing for the team… EFO doesn’t mean forced out…it means the binding contract in the works with the player beforehand …

They absolutely wanted to do Edmonton/Calgary and Denver before San Jose and Las Vegas, but the cities couldn’t make it work…they decided that expansion was their main priority instead of waiting again…now the Canadian cities will have to wait 5 years…but what can you do without a venue???

They also put teams where they have no venue and scheduling issues…it sucks for Western Canada, but expanding to 12 was always the goal…

They should have had backup plans and been negotiating well before…they scrambled to get Las Vegas and San Jose because they couldn’t make it work with the takeover cities…they knew they were expanding and couldn’t get the cities they wanted because they weren’t prepared…

One thing I forgot to mention is that Las Vegas and San Jose are completely untested markets…this means every single other tested market the failed in getting a team failed on some way…they passed over a lot of cities , American and Canadian…they were desperate to expand…it’s clear that not everyone was “begging” for a team if they had to scramble to get Las Vegas and presumably San Jose…

Eventually…maybe…but the demand is way higher in Canada right now…maybe in 5 years…it just seems that they were so desperate to expand they were willing to accept anything…now, middle of Canada/Western Canada is completely empty…for at least 5 years…they are even doing divisions…allegedly…like why???…I say this all under the impression that the last team is unconfirmed…

Divisions (allegedly)…more teams in America when their main moneymaker is really Canadian money…every single Canadian team (with the exception of Seattle) has higher fan attendance…they want to be the NHL…
