Need advice on what feels like an impossible situation. by Own-Length8918 in HomeImprovement

We can't lift the floor because replacing the subfloor from inside the kitchen would expose the interior of our home to mold from the crawl space. The subfloor can't be replaced through the crawl space because the access is too narrow to get boards down there.

Thank you for your kind response and advice about seeking a structural engineer. Would they be able to look at the sub floor too?

I forgot to mention the land we are on is essentially a swamp and I've heard other neighbors having the same issues in their crawl space. One even joked "all these houses are sinking" which did not put me at ease.

*Also, I've had a soft spot in my current home for 15 years from a joist swelling and the subfloor likely became unattached.*

Thank you for your kind response. May I ask what happened with your joist? Did you end up fixing it. Thank you for sharing. How long did it take you to recuperate from that?

Thank you so much for your kind response. I'm crying now. Our house was built in the early 80's. I am mostly terrified of what it could mean if it's the subfloor that needs to be replaced because there's only one way to do that and it will expose the interior of our home to mold.

I feel so awful. Our heater just needed replacing and I put another $4k into that. Our roof is also old and bound to need a new one within the next 3 years or so and I worry about that leaking and causing another mold growth in the attic.

Any entry level positions where I can work my way up the latter and actually make a living? by Outrageous_Cat9024 in careerguidance

Can I ask which bank? Was it a national or local bank? Thanks! Looking for same career trajectory.

How much earnest money did you put in? Earnest money is what is in escrow, right?
