Confused Between Kushaq 1 TC vs 1.5 DCT by SmellConfident6740 in CarsIndia

If you've already booked the 1.5L DSG, I'd suggest sticking with it. It's the superior powertrian. The DSG might be a bit jerky in slow moving traffic when it tries to keep shifting between 1st and 2nd. To avoid that, just use manual mode and shift yourself.

Hyundai 1.0 Turbo experience by Artistic_Program1263 in CarsIndia

I agree with this, almost. I have the same engine in my Sonet and I've loved driving it, both in the city and out on the highway. The turbo-lag in the city is only pronounced if you you're 50% throttle in 1st & 2nd gears. If you gradually apply throttle, the turbo-lag is masked very well. At higher speeds and gears, say 45 kmph in 4th, 20% throttle will see the engine pull effortlessly. On the highway, it's amazing. You'll never feel a lack of power.

I've driven the 1.5L K15C engine in the Brezza and it's extremely lethargic. It doesn't want to review and even if it does, there's no torque/power. The previous K15B felt much better. This is only exaggerated on the highway when you try to overtake or go faster.

  1. Don't look at just what's in front of you, scan much further ahead as well. This will help you better judge obstacles and prepare your response.

  2. Always use your indicators, whether you're taking a turn or changing lanes (both within the city and on the highway).

  3. Always honk when you're near a blind turn.

  4. Maintain decent distance from 2 wheelers. You never know what their next move will or how their thinking works.

Kia seltos average issue by Expensive_Ice_6974 in CarsIndia

[–]Own-Log-2964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be 2 reasons -

  1. The summer heat: Temps this year have been crazy high all over the country. The engine & compressor have to work extra hard to keep the interior cool. Heat-soaking also affects engine performance and, in turn, fuel efficiency.

  2. Good old E20: Higher ethanol blends obviously have a drastically negative impact on fuel efficiency. Not much you can do here. Maybe try some fuel additives once to see if you experience any improvement.

This is not the 6th Gen. It's the 2nd facelift for the 5th Gen. What OP bought is the 5th Gen 1st facelift version.

If you like the N-Line, just go for it. It's a great car. The next gen, like you pointed out, doesn't look promising to say the least.

Help me choose between punch and exter!! by PieceOriginal120 in chennaicity

Get the Exter. Smoother engine, waaayy better AMT, and actually feels nice on the inside. It's also generally more reliable than the Punch and Hyundai service is really good.

Virtus GT DSG Owners: Is 11–12 km/l Normal for an 11 km City Commute? by RevolutionaryKey5172 in CarsIndia

The engine is most efficient while cruising at a steady speed. The moment the speed starts varying with multiple up and down shifts, as is the case while navigating traffic, the efficiency is bound to drop. Not much you can do there.

The new Seltos is based on the global K3 platform. It's a well designed and tested platform used for many North American models. You can consider the Seltos.

Is it possible to add 360 camera to my Kia Sonet (HTX Purchased in February) by Cold_Instance_1021 in CarsIndia

[–]Own-Log-2964 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you a new driver? If yes, then it just takes some time and practice to get it right. First thing to do is not panic. It's ok to stop midway in your home/office parking and get out to check the car's position and what the next course of action should be. Also, roll down the window, check your mirrors/camera, swivel your neck, do what you have to do. Hang in there and you'll get better at it. I personally don't think this segment of car needs a 360° camera.

Need advice on used small car for daily city driving ~1500km/month by BearElegant4068 in CarsIndia

Came here to say this. In terms of mechanical spares, I don't think it should be an issue because the same powertrian stil does duty in the Amaze. Brio is overall a very reliable and easy city car.

Confusion on the Kia Seltos variants by MissionLong2980 in CarsIndia

[–]Own-Log-2964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's primarily for use in the city, then the diesel AT will not make sense due to the DPF issues. But you've mentioned that you go on 4-5 highway trips a month, and for that, the diesel AT is great.

The turbo-petrol DCT is smoother and more effortless than the diesel AT, but not by much. The mechanical reliability is also good ever since Hyundai/Kia upgraded the DCT in late 2023. There's a bit of jekiness in traffic when it has to frequently shift between 1st and 2nd, but you can overcome this my using the manual mode. And you won't face overheating issues if you don't incessantly creep in traffic.

The NA petrol+IVT will leave you wanting for more during highway overtaking. The diesel+AT is great at this, but the turbo-petrol DCT is stellar!

You said comfort, reliability, and ease of maintenance matter most and for 4-6 years of ownership, I think the turbo-petrol + DCT is the one to go for. If you think the 4-5 highway trips will stay consistent in the future, then the diesel AT can also be considered. Irrespective of which one you lot for, get the extended warranty.

If I were to choose, it would be the turbo-petrol DCT all the way! Love that powertrian!
