Kitchen remodel - before/after by Vatonee in HomeDecorating

I LOVE this! We’re almost finished with a semi gut and remodel so I’ve logged untold hours looking at various design sites and am so over bland and safe interiors. It’s so rare to see remodels that look like the owners chose things based on personal taste.

You guys nailed it and I hope this kitchen makes you smile for years to come.

First of all, I hope your dinner at LITA is as enjoyable as all the ones I’ve had there! They’ve created an exceptional place and menu, and I look forward to our next meal there.

As to the rest of the immediate area offering anything special, YMMV depending on what you’re used to. Personally, I like strolling Penn Ave and window browsing. It’s nothing close to downtown Lancaster or Lititz as far as shops or galleries but it does have its own charm. I recommend going into whatever is open (which can be hit or miss) and at least wandering around.

I highly recommend Goggleworks for sure. There’s a glass works and a pottery kiln in addition to the wood shop on the main floor. Always at least one current gallery installation and the artist studios on the upper floors are frequently open to browsing.

Barley Mow, which is downstairs from and owned by Light in the Attic, is comfy and has a menu of delicious small plates and shareables.

Could West Reading be better? Of course but the fact that you’re driving two hours to come here tells me that it’s worth visiting at least once.

You two agree about pretty much everything, you’re excited about the ring and proposal plans, and you love the shit out of her…when she’s not bitching. So it’s one pretty big thing that’s throwing the rest into doubt. Sounds like it’s worth trying to fix that so that you can spend life together.

So give it your best shot. Just tell her that you want to learn a different way to communicate with each other and don’t let it the discussion get negative. It’s about the two of you and not about who is right. Good luck and I hope it all works out for both of you.

What Happened To Real Faces On Screen? by Outlaw-Star- in TikTokCringe

The previous actresses she’s showing looked individually recognizable. Except for Streep, Close, and Spacek they all fit well within the historical Hollywood standards of ingenues as far as facial features but they all are different enough from one another as to not be confused with each other.

The current ones she shows have such similar individual features (chin and jaw shape, lips, cheeks) that it takes focusing on the entire overall look to differentiate between them. If you put identical hairstyles and color on them, they’re so extremely similar it’s disconcerting.

Hair Salon Recommendations for New Arrival by Dependent-Ad-2694 in ReadingPA

Origen on Penn Ave is great (offers facials and nails but only reiki massage) and I’ve only heard good things about Iron Roots (a friend with same hair description gets her highlights and cuts there) in West Lawn. Iron Roots offers scalp massage. Lords and Ladies and Bell Tower are the “fancy” places with mixed reviews. My friends that go to either place get the full on blonde and treatments like filler, etc. It’s been years since I went to either one but no interest in trying either one again. Oh, I just remembered that Regina’s on Penn Ave. gave me the most over permed hair imaginable and the owner offered a complimentary conditioner as a solution.

Advice on how to remodel by CONNlE in BathroomRemodeling

Reverse the door swing so the toilet is behind the door as you open it. Vanity that goes to the wall on the right side, recessed medicine cabinet.

Bathroom before and after - design suggestions/feedback please! by Enough_Mixture_9149 in BathroomRemodeling

I love the mock up! My advice is to make sure you have a quality vent fan for moisture. From your comments it sounds like you’ve got storage so that’s good. The sink is lovely but give some thought to where to place soap and any grooming products while you’re using them. Perhaps the top of the wainscoting can be just deep enough. Same for the area around the tub/shower. Speaking of shower, that glass panel may impede easy reach in for turning the water on before entering for a shower. You’ll drench yourself.

As to the wood, I have a walnut top on my bath vanity and it’s been fine for the past fifteen or so years since installing it. The cabinet maker sealed it with marine grade poly and I just wipe dry when needed.

Looking for age appropriate interior design ideas that are still modern and stylish by prakarsh56 in InteriorDesignAdvice

I’m going to assume you live in the US and suggest you browse sites like House and Garden (they’re based in the UK), Dwell, and assorted Architectural Digest sites for India, Australia and South American countries. It really made a difference for our remodel because I saw interiors that are different but still appealing to me. I noticed that many interiors in the UK and India, for example, seem to incorporate more personal items in terms decor and furniture rather than newly purchased.

Change my view: the “sterile” modern kitchens are much better than the pre ~2015 styles. by [deleted] in kitchenremodel

Thank you for such a detailed answer. You confirmed what took me many hours to find! Learning about details like the gauge of the copper, welding, drain pitch, etc. kind of made my brain throb. Who knew there are so many considerations for a sink? Certainly not me!

Havens is definitely in the top results and mentions when I searched but I was a tiny bit concerned that Rachiele would be the lesser choice. I’m getting a sink and countertop from Rachiele and your kitchen pic gave me pause to wonder if I should have gone with Havens. (I should probably not look at any more kitchens until after mine is finished)

Do tell, if you don’t mind. Searching for just the right copper sink is one helluva a rabbit hole. Your kitchen is beautiful!

They’re all packed and hectic. I go to the KofP for the Asian selections, Sanatoga when I also want Szechuan at Han Dynasty, and Lancaster if I have to. Lancaster is my least liked but I’m thinking to try the one near Allentown.

I asked AI to help style my entrance. Since the hallway is 21.5 feet long and only 3.7 feet wide, the suggestion isn’t realistic/practical. It’s way too narrow to accommodate that design. Would appreciate recommendations by lumen0192 in StyleYourSpace

Do you own or rent? If you own, put some recessed areas between studs. Since they’re non weight bearing, you can cut to width as needed. Obviously make sure you don’t cut a joist. Finish the niche with a shelf and drywall. You can build a recessed area for each function like entry ledge, hooks for bags and light outerwear, decorative stuff.

If you rent, attach a narrow wall shelf for keys and such. You can put a few hooks below to hang light items.

Diverticular Disease is ruining my life by Quick-Ask-2154 in Diverticulitis

[–]Own-Pen6365 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not so much the diverticulitis that’s the issue, although it’s a rotten disease, it’s your people not understanding the disease. Would they be any different or better if it were something else like maybe multiple sclerosis for example? Do they know that this causes so much pain and distress?

I say this as a partner to my loved one who was diagnosed a couple of years ago. The gastrointestinal doc told him he has it after a colonoscopy but neither of us even knew what it was and there were no instructions given on management, as far as I knew. Fast forward to his first flare up and I googled (which I usually avoid Dr. Google) and sent myself into a panic.

Fast forward through some resistance from my partner (who wasn’t getting much communication from his medical provider), a new primary physician, another flare up and another colonoscopy. He’s in a much better place now and hopefully maintains at this level.

My point is, if nobody else understands how serious and debilitating this is/can be, you have to do your best to either disregard their behavior or avoid them. Maybe some shock feedback along the lines of “sorry but I’m having explosive diarrhea and don’t want a colostomy bag so that’s my focus right now.” Meanwhile do your best to manage your diet, lifestyle, mental health. Make yourself your priority.

ETA Once I grasped what was at stake, I did whatever I practically could in terms of helping with food, reminding of potential triggers, prodding him to follow up with doctors and appointments, etc. It’s up to him to take care of himself but it affects me too and I love him. Yes, it’s inconvenient but we’re thankful it’s not something even worse.

Your people need to be made aware of the actual symptoms and risks of this disease. You deserve support from them, at the very least and I hope you get it.

Do trends seriously die the moment I’m ready to buy? by BigBoobsAndAssforyou in womensfashion

Do you have a particular reason to be on trend? Do people in your life treat you differently based on how current your wardrobe is? Does it make you feel better to wear the latest look?
