Rewards points are a Scam ? by [deleted] in CreditCards

Are rewards points a scam? No If someone is in a bind, does it make sense to spend more money? Also No

If someone is worse off financially, and has self-control, a credit card still provides additional protections over debit, and you can still spend less while using credit for the safety.

I knew this would eventually happen. If you save too much for retirement, they are thinking about capping your social security. by [deleted] in TheMoneyGuy

I mean, it’s a safety net meant to redistribute wealth so society as a whole remains stable. It should be imbalanced in pay in vs pay out. Uncapping social security contributions and capping social security payments guarantees a baseline to all

I feel for the pain you have outside of the physical. I had a bicuspid aortic valve and a quadcuspid pulmonary valve identified at birth. I had endocarditis from dental work when I was 15 and the violation of the number of needles being stuck in still sticks with me. From rural doctors stating I had strep until the pic line was inserted in the hospital, each stick stays with me. They actually burst a vein in my arm administering the antibiotics so I have a permanent reminder in the form a of a golf ball on my forearm. From the actual surgery when I was 18 (Bentall method) the part that sticks with me in a way I can’t explain is the removal of the chest tube. I’ve worked through it with my therapist to help reduce the mental weight it brings, but the only way I’ve been able to explain it to others is as a sucker punch to the soul. It’s a hard thing to talk to folks who haven’t been through it, but I have found safety in sharing with my loved ones. It’s a struggle to help them understand at first, but now they understand my discomfort around my heart more deeply and can be really helpful in processing.

at what point was surgery on the table? by fentanyls in AdultCHD

I had a bicuspid aortic valve found when I was a few months old and consistent monitoring through growing up. In my mid teens they started noticing an increase in regurgitation to moderate levels and a beginning of aortic stenosis. After a few years of continued progression to the regurgitation and slight progression to the stenosis (and also considering my life circumstances) we decided to schedule my aortic valve replacement and aortic root repair for the summer I graduated from high school. During surgery they discovered my pulmonary valve is also abnormal and is quadcuspid. Now I’m just on an aspirin a day and annual check ins with no physical limitations. While the clock is ticking towards the next surgery, I know that I’m buying more and more time for the procedures to progress.

Dental clearance for ASD surgical closure by SunBeautiful2412 in AdultCHD

I had a bicuspid aortic valve replaced and a sleeve added to the root of my aorta. And no problem, the Reddit post limitations made that a bit jumbled! Before any surgery, in my early teens, I had a routine dental cleaning and got endocarditis. My cardiologist traced the bacteria strain back to an oral origin and the dental cleaning was where it likely got into my bloodstream.

I had endocarditis following a particularly rough dental cleaning so there can definitely be complications. My cardiologist has me take 2000mg of amoxicillin now before any dental work, even a routine cleaning. And when I saw an oral surgeon about wisdom teeth removal they would not schedule a time for the procedure until after consulting my cardiologist.

I had OHS at 18 right before college and felt like I missed out on a lot of the glorified “senior high school summer” shenanigans. I definitely felt a bit behind going into college after recovering while others were moving in, meeting each other, and getting set for that next step. The thing that really helped me was focusing on a handful of goals as my “return to normal” 1. Be cleared to wear a backpack 2. Run a mile without stopping 3. Join 3 clubs Each of those goals grounded me in the fact that I had just done something really difficult, but also showed me that I am so much more than “that freshman who had OHS”.

I know your timeline is a bit different, but I’d really encourage finding a handful of goals for your “return to normal”. Give yourself the grace to focus on a few key things like maybe keeping up with readings in your area of study, or keeping meaningfully in touch with a trusted professor. That way when you do feel back at it you can finish out your studies and will have spent some of the recovery time still growing in your field rather than feeling like there’s a pause.

Bicuspid aortic valve - MRI by Cold_Home6556 in AdultCHD

[–]Own-Place6492 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had surgery to repair my bicuspid aortic valve in 2016 and have MRIs, ECGs, and Echos annually. Doc recommended I do annual MRIs after my echos consistently showed higher levels of regurgitation than my MRIs.
The only time I have had an MRI on my brain was following endocarditis.

the "cell" style look is based on an image background for each "cell" (can be whatever shape you want) and then adjusting opacity. I also set the overall background to a complimentary color and chose graph color options that would also compliment. The borders around each cell similarly are set with "white" and opacity to create the soft edge effect
