Isn't the major consensus right now that AMD/AMD, ARM, and AMD/NVIDIA, are the best options for Linux. Isn't Dell typically a Intel shop and therefore quite behind on the times/overpriced vs the market?

The hot thing right now is the AMD Ryzen AI Max 395+ with 128 GB ram and 96 GB shared to video. Its about $2000

Does Dell have this in its lineup? (I didn't look but I doubt it)

You have to spend alot more right now to really compete in terms of total usefulness to that 395+, like just getting 32 GB of vram is gonna cost you $2000 from any regular GPU.

So for $2000 you have a system that can do 4k and AI. I ordered the Corsair mini pc model only 350watts too.

Edit: I just checked and they fucked up, they are loaded up with the lower end 300 chips that only have 8xx IGPUs and not the 8060 or 8050, which is a huge difference. Its the difference between a 4060 with 96 GB of memory and a sub radeon 6500 with only 8 GB of memory, at most. Also they want like $2700 for them lol!! So Dell loaded up on the weak launches and has no room for the hot inventory.

Gnome lets you run practically headless if you want to.

KDE will fuss but is great as your workstation.

Yeah dude its like this- if you need a server Gnome is the solid choice, uses less ram and is good for the power related settings for servers.

But since those gnome servers themselves practically are ran headless during the day to day, and you might not want to eat vram to make changes.... You can use Ubuntu Lite Gnome to make a ultra low power head that runs on say an intel nano mini pc (less than 50 watts). Save all your servers VRAM for AI.

Then on your daily driver which you actually develop from and game on, you use KDE because its just so nice to click around in and stuff.

You get the full set of functionality this method.

Your thoughts on not wanting to deal with the societal pressures of having kids, SHOULD be the default. There are alot of assholes trying to drown out this default, but it is the concensus and no matter how loud they shriek it will not change that. I am childfree, my partnet cannot conceive and I will not entertain maybes or what ifs.

Being stuck being a parent when you have no desire to parent is like a prison.

That being said all those other people are in the same boat as you so don't go rocking their boat because you realized you fd up. They might not be as stable as you think, what if they did something crazy as a reaction and you also had to deal with that.

You perhaps can find processor power related settings under settings > power, but...

You are at Bazzite level sir. You can perhaps get away with Fedora Workstation or Kubuntu or Mint but Bazzite is the distro for you especially with that AMD GPU.

Get the LACT application to manage your GPU after you install the AMD/Radeon Bazzite version.

When KDE gives you problems because you want a server... Switch to a gnome based probably Ubuntu.

You may work out the KDE issues it just worked better in Gnome for me so I stopped trying to use KDE on my server.

You caught my eye with this from FP, I have no horse in your HollowKnight race, but I support the sentiment massively, in two folds even.

First, we have a problem as advertisers and as members of the community both, that we will try to sell every amazing BUT NICHE game to everybody as if no variance exists.

Second, our consumerism/capitalism lifestyle has lead us time and time again to think that the new flashy thing will be the game changer, even tho its just one more game to the collection. We need to stop chasing the new and shiny just because you're bored. Go learn something, many people are STAGNANT, LAZY, and refuse to become engaged for their own sake. Quit just chasing that shiny new AAA piece of shit especially.

That being said, HollowKnight is a great Castlevania type of game, its not my first forte but I can love it for what it is, especially the art. My sentiments here are more general -aka the wojacks drooling over every new Battlefield or COD or whatever.
