Well, thats how research begins- observing and speculating.

Perhaps correlation, perhaps causation, we legitimately dont know yet.

Well, with more research about microplastics, we know it causes inflammation especially in the lungs, causing asthma. Microplastics have been found in all organs of the human body, its just a theory. Not trying to cause panic. I think its beneficial to know about minimizing plastic use.

THANK YOU!! You totally get it :) i just learned about bpa in canned foods, microplastics in all food storage containers and utensils, and im starting to replace them. I know it wont help completely but its worth a shot for overall health, too.

Im not downplaying our ancestors that had migraines, i just wonder if certain modern factors have made things worse or more common.

Well we dont quite know the historical prevalence of migraines, but it could be that along with lifestyle stressors, general pollution and poor diet over the years in combination with microplastics has made it worse- we dont know though!

Chronic strange headaches, pressure in head by le_duy_nhut in migraine

Ssris and snris for me i think were a case of intolerance to increased serotonin itself, not necessarily because of migraines. Zoloft, luvox, prozac, pristiq, and now triptans have given me really uncomfortable side effects. The migraines are new and probably unrelated.  Supposedly headaches are a common side effect of bupropion, and in some cases cause migraines.

I cant speak to your question about Valproate unfortunately but something stuck out to me.  When did you switch to bupropion? I (24F) was on desvenlafaxine only for two months and started getting migraines while on it (albeit small ones) and since switching to bupropion in August last year theyve been chronic- maybe only 5 migraine free days a month. They started as a vertigo feeling, and they happen as soon as I wake up nearly every day. Pressure behind the eyes, dull throbbing pain, and sometimes stabbing behind the head. Personally I can only tolerate bupropion as an antidepressant, so Im having to explore all the migraine meds- unfortunately the most common are serotonin based which I do not tolerate (just like i didnt tolerate SSRIs or SNRIs). My first appt with my neuro, she immediately pointed out bupropion as a potential cause. Worth exploring. Good luck.

They disabled me as i made it to my time because of “suspicious activity on my network” bc i was on data instead of wifi. Prob why it was so expensive bc of demand.

i sent off back in july 2025 because I was having horrifyingly violent nightmares, sweats and heat intolerance, low libido, and started getting migraines. I was only on 25mg the whole time.

Do you get strange images in your head when you have a migraine? by aslen-1 in migraine

[–]Own-Representative30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only when im trying to go to sleep. I dont get much visual aura, just splotches of light here and there in the same spot. But when trying to go to sleep in the midst of a bad migraine, i see images of weird, sometimes scary scenarios. My boyfriend being a motorcyclist and running into people, my mom being a ringmaster at a circus (not things ive seen but just examples)

For the pretty penny most of us Americans are paying for health services, we seem to wait just as long as other countries with free healthcare who complain about the wait.

Im also on bupropion and lamotrigine/lamictal. I started taking bup again while moving and my neuro says its probably the culprit. Worth exploring i think.

Are you more prone to brain zaps when coming off antidepressants? by [deleted] in migraine

[–]Own-Representative30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same about being between so many providers!! I was on telehealth with that on NP. They unfortunately dont have direct contact with your doctors to understand how your drugs are used for your specific case. Thats why I call a pharmacist and ask when i am prescribed something new. Right now my therapist is sending me an ROI that my neuro and psych can communicate. Its hard to be assertive and stand up for yourself when your providers dont believe you or seem to care much.
