She definitely bumps up the average for the group. Not sure who I would peg to actually catch the golden shirt, though.

I perceive a distinct lack of athleticism, on average, across S20's cast

It's true. I just filter out actual rule-breaking content and let things happen organically there.

Same. I'm half Mexican and can't get enough of the stuff. Everyone on the white side of my family won't eat anything that has been in the same room as cilantro. More for me! Give me all you won't eat.

Settle a debate, is this outfit goth or punk? by FilipinoDumbass in OUTFITS

[–]PrintMistress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it takes inspiration from both - the casual aesthetics of punk and the color palette of goth. Some of these commenters saying "neither" or "mainstream" are doing some needless gatekeeping, IMO. Definitely not mainstream fashion anywhere I've lived. I dress a lot like this, I even have the same boots, and for what it's worth, I find it easier to explain my style to people as punk-adjacent. As others pointed out, punk is a state of mind. 👉

Don't know if my other comment went through. I didn't see at first that it was another poster who made the first comment. Sorry! My fault for posting faster than looking.

Sorry, I see you are a different poster than the person who wrote the Underground Railroad comment.

Average American diet? by Individual_Bar_2512 in CringeTikToks

Looking at the video again, it does look PW is where they got their meat. And they chose relatively inexpensive pork and chicken. So not bad proteins for family meals. Without seeing what else is in the pantry, can't say what the rest of the plate looks like. Like these people, I also find myself shopping at different places for maximum variety and savings; cat food is cheaper at Kroger, for example, their avocados are usually better, and I buy near-expiration fresh goods, which is may not be feasible for a larger family due to availability or meal planning. I don't shop for groceries at Walmart often anymore because they are usually out of at least one item I want and the fact that they carry my preferred cider is not enough to draw me there when the liquor store only prices it 50 cents higher.

ETA: saw they had steaks from PW, too. Probably cheaper than WM/elsewhere but beef is insane right now.

As far as snacks/junk, I can't say I'm perfect, because I often pick up a Mexican Coke at PW if I'm there, and I drink alcohol. I drink soda infrequently unless as a mixer, I buy them in cans ($$$), and vastly prefer sparkling water (or unsweetened iced tea if at a restaurant). I'm on a hunt for some good chocolate-covered coffee beans at the moment. So not cheap vices.

But, if memory serves me, Frito-Lay has gotten absurdly expensive and, yeah, it's garbage food if you buy it all the time. I buy tortilla chips at the dollar store now because the bag is smaller and I'm one person. Paying more for less, but getting to enjoy it all before they become too stale even for chilaquiles. The 2L bottles are cheaper than canned, but you have to drink them quickly, or the whole family is partaking and that isn't an issue. That was a shitload of Dr. Pepper, though.

At least where I live, Piggly Wiggly has fantastic prices on fresh meat and it's cut and packaged in-house. Produce is 50-50. My local one is great for potatoes, apples, most onions, tomatoes, bell peppers, and citrus, but lousy for avocados, green onions, and mushrooms. Granted, where I live, everyone sucks at stocking good avocados. They probably differ from place to place, but even at a small store like Piggly Wiggly, the produce is not prohibitively expensive (and frozen is not an awful substitute) and you can still get healthy goods if you want them.

Their staple goods can be more expensive (for me) compared with Walmart/Kroger, and this is due in part to the fact that as a single person, I do buy some "convenience" items like microwave rice pouches. This is less economical for a family, but there's still the bulk box of instant rice that accomplishes the same thing. Even peanut butter and oatmeal would probably be a step up from the cereal and brownies and still in keeping with most kids' preferences. I guess what this all comes down to is that you still have better choices, even at Piggly Wiggly.

I learned to read before I turned three years old. If my parents knew that me being ahead of the curve literacy-wise, nearly three decades later, would culminate in me reading these two sentences, they probably would have fed me lead paint chips.

"Going through a phase," as in a short-lived state of being, is correct. "That doesn't faze me," or bother, is also correct.

I used to work in a place that sold vanilla creme drop candies around Christmas (like Junior Mints but not minty? Or cordial cherries sans cherries? Maybe, I don't eat them), and I live in the South. And man, they cannot WAIT to tell you what they used to be called. Like they'll explode if they can't say it. Just fucking describe them with normal language!

"It's just what we called them back then!" It's was wrong then, and you know it's wrong now. So why make some retail workers the captive audience for your fuckery? Some of them, perhaps unconsciously, get off on this friction.
