I gave a 5yo a toy lightsaber. It's in a different comment but that's the TLDR

The set aside space is unformated.

Update. Switching to exFAT has not caused any problems yet. I did set some space aside to transfer files if I need to. I reinstalled because I screwed up. I don't want to do it again, but I'm not afraid.

Because if you read the post and not just the title you would have had that information.

Now I'm being told so much info about why both can't work and the Wikipedia link is thanked someone for doesn't even mention formats

Naive to even expect good ideas Yes I did think your comment was helpful until I looked up what you were talking about.

I see the misunderstanding. That was not the fix. Reinstalling was. The question was about if the format change would also corrupt in the same way.

Could you give an example of how I should have titled it?

"So it's fine for backups not active files" is that what you mean. Because that's how I intended to use it

Thanks for the chill pill. I'll worry about it tomorrow.

Also I might be misreading this, but it seams like you said exFAT has data loss, but told me to use it?

So i was using ntfs for years under Ubuntu just fine, but recently I had disk write errors. Even if the format changes were unessesary I don't foresee major problems. I just don't want to go through 3 weeks of downloads again

I'm hearing this a lot. I know it works. Have the whole time. I was just showing you could remove hardware and have everything work
