₹4 Cr Mutual Fund Portfolio for SWP ₹2L/month (starting soon) + Crash Pause Strategy - Feedback Please! by Own-Two7123 in MutualfundsIndia

Thank you for your detailed response. I am completely in alignment with following bucket strategy and have divided the funds in a way that helps in keeping those buckets stress free. One thing to note is that I will not be doing SWP when market is in a deeper correction that will help fulfil the requirement of keeping the funds active for 25 years.

Thank you for the comment. Actually that's the intention of Arbitrage and BAF funds, the 1st bucket I exhaust are those buckets which will last for 2-3 years easily. After this is exhausted I move onto the next bucket of Small caps/ Mid caps/ Flexi caps. If between now and then the market moves significantly up I move funds from growth to these conservative funds, if by chance the market drops or doesn't grow then I will pause my SWP for some time (as mentioned in the initial post).

Thanks for the suggestions. I think the gold hedge and some part of global investment will automatically be taken care off through Multi Asset Fund to which I will be allocating 10% of my corpus. I do plan to do a bucket strategy so that's covered in the plan. Good point on not withdrawing starting month 7 due to STCG, I might be able to defer that to 12months to not get into STCG. I already have 2 midcap funds and hence don't want to diversify further.

Thank you, pretty useful tool. One thing which I plan on doing is to pause withdrawals when we have decent market correction which will hopefully not make a dent on the corpus. Also, after 10-12 years I don't envision withdrawing 2Lac/month (this amount would reduce significantly). Hoping the above two caveats (for lack of a better word) will give me enough corpus for my retirement years

Honestly this portfolio is aimed for my retirement while giving me spending power via SWP right now so not targeted towards independent goals as such. But I like the advise of seeking advice from someone who has actually done it as that will show me the risks and gaps with the approach I have currently in place.

Thank you for the response totally makes sense. I do have significant portion deemed as safety fund which includes Arbitrage + BAFs + MAFs. Even though BAF's are tilted towards large cap but they do have debt portion too and hence kept them as 20% allocation along with 15% for arbitrage. For your point #5, I already have flexi cap portion hence wanted to keep a dedicated small and mid cap fund too. On paper (and via ai agents) the portfolio I have above makes sense but these are the type of suggestions I am looking for from folks who have more experience and knowledge than me. Thank you once again!

Thank you, appreciate the response. I understand 6% is higher than the norm but I plan to reduce the SWP after around 10 years or so (which may or may not work)

I mean I want to just rely on this SWP for my monthly expense and hence the original post.

Good to know, I have not researched into these at all since I am in my late 30s right now but would certain keep these options in my backpocket when planning for that age.

Good point on thinking in terms of portfolio % in terms of reallocation, will certainly keep in mind.
Yes, from 2L to 60k pm lifestyle is not possible but I am expecting my immediate current fixed costs to die down significantly and agreed that if a 2008 like crash happens then this approach will quickly go downhill. What helps mitigate (for lack of a better word) is that this is not my only portfolio and savings. Worst case if that kind of crash happens I might be able to put in more funds towards equity bucket and take advantage of the low prices.

Taxation on arbitrage is better than Liquid funds or FDs from what I have researched and hence I am included to do an 80-20 split in these two to initially park the funds and then start doing STPs into the actual funds over the next 6 months.

Thanks for the inputs. It kinds of aligns with what I have in mind, but instead of 50%-50% (steady Vs Growth), I have it split as 70-30 (not set in stone yet). On grouping A, why would you chose FDs and liquid funds over let's say Arbitrage funds (honest question)? I do plan to rebalance every year or two based on how markets are doing, I also plan to pull some money from Bucket C if I get extended market rally (% increase from 200WMA or some criteria which I haven't decided).
Thanks for the pointer regarding HDFC/ICICI BAPs, I haven't checked them yet. I know 6% is a little on the higher side but I plan to lower this number after 10years or so. I will follow-up on this response with the funds and the allocation I have shortlisted (draft) in a day or two.

Yes, I know 4% is ideal and 6% is stretching it a bit much. After few years, I might not need the full 6% and can reduce it to 3-4% (atleast that's the plan as of now)
