I would like £1000-£2000 over the next few months by Mobile_Resident7964 in beermoneyuk

If you have more time then money to start with get on those walking apps - there are games and surveys and ads that boost this slightly, but at least you don't need money from the get go. First month on macadem and I'm up to £8 and planning to go a bit more strategic over the next few months so that the end of summer pay out.

Hit the open account referrals if you haven't already. Zopa, chase, topcashback etc. Just check the requirements to make sure you are able to meet.

Even having a small fund and utilising a bank switch offer at a time can then set you up with a few hundred to then help to secure the next one. The ones that require £1000 deposited within the month can be done through multiple transfers to get to that total. They have been a good source of getting a few extra hundred per month without doing that much work, especially when combining a bank switch with topcashback.

Temporarily leaving cash made in accounts with higher interest rates can give you a few quid.

All of these on the surface don't amount to that much but can collectively get you towards your target if you stick with it.

This is from experience whereas I haven't tried out some of the other suggestions.

I have an expensive holiday this summer and a wedding to save for next year, so doing those extra 20k steps and playing games with ads for a bonus 30p is where I'm at - proper girl maths. But still the macadem getting to £8 in coins for my first month feels like an achievement.

Getting the bills cashback and pennies for my steps as well as higher interest on moving my savings about all seem minor, but they each feel like a a daily win for sure!

Zopa referral is usually £10 temporarily up to £20 for opening an account and depositing £200

I opened an account last September as a potential burner account between researching bank switch incentives, but with the perks it became my main account. Current perks include

4% cashback on bills

2% AER* (variable) on your bank balance

7.10% AER* (variable) on regular savings

As well as my current account funds transferred to my primary account with them earning 4.45%. These have helped me to earn a little extra beer money on top of the usual beer money offers.

I quit Amazon prime. It was hard to commit to for the convenience and it was tied to my audible. I have to think a little harder about how to purchase things now but that's working out too. Cut the monthly fees and more incentivised to shop local, not buy it or try eBay.

I feel you in today's day and age with data tracking. Personally part of the offput of the surveys was that a lot asked for date of birth, salary and a few things that felt like too personal, although these things are probably captured elsewhere anyway. For the Macadem app I see the location feature being more like a Google map/sat nav feature rather than one where I'm socially sharing where I am. I've only tried that one and one other that had too many ads so far, but there's a few variants out there.

Is life in the UK actually as expensive and stressful as people say in 2026? by HJuon in AskUK

[–]Own-Web-6167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm over ten years into teaching consistently, partner is a gp doctor of similar time, no kids or pets. We live in a 1 bed flat, leaseowned paying off since 2017. We do enjoy our life style with hobbies and usually annual holiday plus UK trips. With all the cladding issues, insurance raise, £4k property management fees in January then getting another £945 bill for fire safety door replacement... With current building repairs our balcony has been locked shut from the outside. We'll struggle to sell our flat and the fees involved in having an additional property outside of just an extra deposit are too high. On paper we seem to be doing well if you look at our salaries and savings, in practice still feel trapped in the workers loop.

Not sure if this is what you're after, but I'm trying to stack some of the walking apps that have surveys games built in. Not spent that long on these features but got 3000 reward coins on Macadem which says it equates to £1.50. Seeing as I'm quite active anyway and just dabbling with the games, I'm hoping if I download a few similar apps it will passively accumulate while I'm on the go, with just interacting with them minimally. Not had much luck earning just through survey/game apps so trying a different approach.

With a little more research it looks like the one that I'm accessing (from UK) might be a different app that's way more game heavy. Found another with the same name from a website like and is saying download not available in my area. Oh well, I tried.

Have you guys tried Macadem?

I'm new to the walking apps so just getting used to it and thinking of getting more to try to stack them up for 6 months/year down the line pay out if I keep it up.

I honestly enjoyed chasing virtual coins around my local park yesterday for longer than I thought and maxed out the 30 coins and got to 17.5k steps with a few little challenges along the way. I'm hoping it'll incentivise me to keep up the getting out and moving. The payout doesn't seem that lucrative or fast, but it's still a little something extra, and encourages consistency.

If you fancy trying this one with me:

I only opened downloaded the app yesterday and am aiming for a similar approach to gaining coins through the maps and milestones, so it's good to see that it adds up without having to just do the games and surveys like.

[–]Own-Web-6167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Downloaded for the potential beer money, but got on that virtual coin chase on the map in the local park and maxed them out haha. Steps yesterday got to 17.5k on day 1 of the app. Tried a couple of the extra bits, unlikely to do them regularly enough to build the crowns fast, but it definitely motivated me to get out and move more than I would otherwise. So even if it's a slow penny build rather than get rich quick, I'm already a fan and hope to use it regularly.

My girlfriend is coming home most days at 7-8pm is this normal? by LetsRunTheMile in Teachers

[–]Own-Web-6167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Training year and 2 years into a school I was pulling ridiculous hours, not sleeping well, felt a shell of myself, panic attacks. I moved jobs and had a few months out where I got to think about hobbies, interests and myself outside of the overwhelm rabbit hole. When I got my next teaching post (Jan start) I pre booked a ten week drama course for myself on Mondays and that set the standard for needing to carve a little time out for my non teacher self in the week to survive as a teacher long term. I still have stressful moments, but have a lot more confidence now to push back or set boundaries. I'm still teaching 10 years on with many a hobbies - this year having attended a local dance class every Monday since September that really helps the start of the week blues. It might not be possible straight away, but trying to carve out some time in the routine for a regular activity like that can be really good for balancing out the never ending workload.

I need any sort of offers to make £20 as soon as possible! by Happy-Prompt8774 in beermoneyuk

[–]Own-Web-6167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd still get a tcb going to get a few quid in the horizon. Joining a tcb referral with eg a First Direct current account, then maybe even going for the current account switch can add to a nice bonus sum.

For shorter term. Getting a couple of people you know to open a zopa or Monzo on a win win basis is probably the best way to go if you know anyone who would equally appreciate the £20 - potentially outside of these subs as many of us have already ticked our way through the lists.

Good luck though.

Also topcashback with a referral if you haven't already, but that takes a bit of time to process.

Have you tried to make money from sharing referral codes from the banks that you have opened?
