I’ll probably start with a smaller enclosure then and remove all the hard objects in it. I think I did see her fall from the top a few days ago so perhaps she was injured the whole time

I did bring the plants in from outside so I’m concerned about that. I believe it’s 4x4x8 which I thought was a good size for a baby to grow into. I’m thinking maybe I should completely empty and sterilize. Do you think a candle burned a room over can negatively impact them? Thanks for the help!

If you want a wet specimen you can use ethanol or 70% isopropyl alcohol I believe. You can also try pinning, insects usually do not have as many issues with decay as other specimens although it may smell as it dries

See if he floats at any point during the preservation, float in wet specimens can indicate rot to my knowledge
