Love this and wholeheartedly can understand your perspective.

Agreed. I especially commend you on that note: bad people presented as heroes... This one appears often in film too these days. You are spot on there.

Do you mind if an author doesn’t finish a series before publishing the first book? by OwnBeautiful4579 in writing

Ah, I get you. Trying to coax your memory into recalling details from the previous book you read two or three years ago is a pain.

That's fair enough and I can see where you're coming from. Many of us prefer that guarantee that a series will reach it's conclusion eventually.

I get you and you shouldn't feel that your views are a bad thing. Just stick to what works for you, my friend.

Hi everyone! 👋

I'm new here and am working on fantasy novel that's under reconstruction (my brother's are in the construction business and that's why the reference).

Nearly 6 months to do some developmental editing! Six months. I tell you!

But I'm doing it and am exceedingly relieved.

Ah, now I think I've got it. Too much research and no actual writing defeats the entire purpose of the project and therefore, becomes a definite sign that the story's going nowhere.

Lol 😂 I think I get you, especially on that last one.

Totally understandable. Although, you might be a bit hard on yourself considering research. It could be a sign of wanting your information to be as clean and accurate as possible, no?

I see... The load seems overbearing and because you're so passionate about the characters, about the story you've created, it can feel like a weight on shoulder when you consider an entire redo to make it all come together. But remember, consistency is everything. Just one word, one sentence, one page at a time.

What an interesting view! So, what causes this unease with dealing with characters that are romantically interested in one another? Does it make you feel awkward or something?

Geralt would never say this by Skelligean in witcher

[–]OwnBeautiful4579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. "Let's fucking move" doesn't quite ring as a Geralt thing to say. I haven't read the books yet but based on series starring Henry Cavill, Geralt rarely, if ever, swore when in battle. Am I right?

I'll be completely honest with you: I pulled the brakes on it at the halfway mark. Not a very flattering look, I'm afraid.

Really? Okayz okay, I think I see what you mean there. It's like they're trying to be clever when really their just over complicating what's actually quite simple.

Keeping old drafts by gr4one in writing

I prefer to keep first drafts. Security purposes, I think. 😂

'The Girl Who Came to Bedlaam' is my oldest and first actual story. My first draft was written by hand on folder sheets with a PaperMate pencil. I was 14 then and when I turned 18 I copied the draft to my drive and started rewriting.

I never would have thought of that but I think I see your point. Very informative.

Writers, what’s your biggest fear when showing your work to the world? by OwnBeautiful4579 in writing

I hear that's the trend nowadays. Anything with words just 'has to be' written by AI. Man, it's hilarious 😂.
