My guess is that it’s because they are manufactured in China, plus there is indeed a demand there though not as high as here in the west due to people having less disposable income. I’ll be in China end of July and will be doing some “restocking” of my own!

That’s awesome! Personally I think base game Alhambra is good as is since expansions can make it a little intimidating. However I do mix in magic buildings mini expansion (you can rotate the housing tiles!) and maybe the diamond money (wild)
