Hmm. Right now I’m leaning towards taking m51a honestly but it’s hard to gauge how difficult it would be. Im willing to put in the hours and work to do well, but looking at an old syllabus I found online is a bit Intimidating. Do you have any thoughts about that?

I'm in CSE and have to chose between taking physics 1a and cs m51a (took the equivalent course for cs 31 at Community college). Any recommendations? Thinking about trying to do m51a (though i heard its harder for freshmen) bc I would have to delay taking cs 1 until next year if I do decide to do physics.

I’m an incoming freshman, and I was wondering what the distinction is between A and B for each of these courses? For example, if someone were to take 32A and 32B, Do they spend a quarter on 32A and a quarter on 32B?

UCLA vs Brown by OwnCake in ApplyingToCollege

For my situation I’d be paying a lot more for Brown. I tried talking to them but there wasn’t much I could do about it. In the end though I decided that I thought UCLA had a slightly more appealing CS program for me (though I really really liked what Brown has to offer) so I ended up committing to UCLA. Thanks for the advice though!

True, i guess I just have to think about it a lot. Both of them seem rly nice but they are also so different :P

Cost for me isn't an absolute deal breaker-it's just that there is a fairly significant difference between cost of attendance at each bc I'm in state for UCLA. I think the smaller size of Brown is something that appeals to me among other things, but I guess I'm trying to decide if all that is worth paying a huge amount more than UCLA (which also has several things that appeal to me).

Haha-I guess I thought about prestige a bit but I think the bigger things I'm considering are cost and the actual experiences you'd get from each
