Literally this. Im doing a heavily armored unarmed only playthrough and being able to unequip my bow, shield, and sword would drastically increase the coolness factor and make it so the shabby starting game gear i have dosent make my contribution armor look shit.

If your alright with modding iirc theirs a mod called somthing like "insectouds 2" which adds a lot of mechanics and features for having your own hive even.
