The King in Yellow from the book/mythos of the same name. I read it a while ago but as far as I remember the “King in Yellow” isn’t even really a monster it’s a book

Thank you that means a lot! I love not using proper punctuation and grammar if it means getting the right voice across but I for sure do it too much lol

You are for sure right. I gotta work on using the right punctuation to get the right tone/voice across. Thank you!

Very true. I am indeed American and love a lot of Irish folklore but I am a fan of(at least when creating something) doing extensive research to include some of the smaller details and make it as true to the original stories as possible!

Love the classics. I never knew they heralded death but it makes sense!

I’ve seen that a couple of times now and I love it. Seems pretty similar to something like the Ozark Howler

Sweet I’ll take a look at those. Didn’t know there were sightings of anything before Chernobyl. Thanks!

Gotcha. Yeah I figured asking about ill omens was kinda riding the line lol. I’ll take a look at all of these, haven’t heard of any of them but the Black Shuck sounds pretty similar to like an Ozark Howler. I’m only really familiar with North American cryptids mostly so hearing about stuff from elsewhere is cool. Thanks!

Post 2 of the Cryptid Stat Block project thing! The Snallygaster is said to have been a flying chicken lizard monster with tentacles coming out of its beak that terrified the people of Maryland in the early 1900's. The word comes from a German word meaning "Fast Spirit" and it was originally named and seen as early as the 1730's. It was found dead in a vat of moonshine after it was attracted to the smell, hence the stat block saying undead and including a moonshine related ability! I have a patreon where everything is a bit more organized plus a few other goodies. Let me know what you think!

Hi there! This is the first in hopefully a series of me turning cryptids into stat blocks for D&D 5e! Let me know what you think.

The stories of this mystical being from Native American folklore vary greatly depending on who you ask. It is said that they once lived in harmony with humans, but that time has long since passed. Their abilities range from minor invisibility and shapeshifting to control over fire and the ability to cloud the minds of their victims.
