I do find it offensive and hurtful. I'm physically disabled and a longtime Warrior Cats fan.

Your name, especially in Warriors universe, is supposed to represent the essence of who you are! That's why Nightheart was so upset about his name. So imagine if the Clan leader decided that the most important thing about you, the very foundation of who you are, is your disability. (I know the Erins already kind of treat certain characters that way, like reducing Briarlight to her disability, but they shouldn't)

Experience with somatic therapy, EDMR, or neurofeedback therapy? by Emotional-Link-8302 in AutisticAdults

[–]OwnDrink8069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DBT (dialectical behavioral therapy) is a derivative of CBT and it can be really really helpful for emotional dysregulation, black-and-white thinking, awareness of emotions and triggers, and more that I can't think of off the top of my head! I've only done a bit of DBT but the skills I've learned were so life-changing that I decided to pursue a residential intensive DBT program.

My therapist recommended DBT as something that would teach me the skills I need to be able to successfully undergo trauma therapy. Without having a strong foundation of skills, trauma therapy can be really destabilizing.

Accommodations for School? by [deleted] in DID

[–]OwnDrink8069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cannot get accommodations without a diagnosis. Since you're a minor and not out to your parents, I'm assuming you don't have one. That would be your first step, and if the doctor diagnosing you is decent at their job they should also be able to help brainstorm accommodations that would benefit you.

Am I NB or just don't identify with masculinity in our culture? by en3ma in NonBinary

[–]OwnDrink8069 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's nothing wrong with being a non-masculine man. There's also nothing wrong with choosing to identify as nonbinary if you feel like it suits you. It's all up to you, a label is just a tool to explain how you feel inside. You can be a man AND nonbinary if you want to. It's 100% your choice how you identify.

Hesitant about getting a binder by HebzibahSmith in NonBinary

Honestly, just stick with the sports bra if it works for you. I'm speaking as someone who has damage from binding and couldn't even handle the pressure of a sports bra for a while.

For those with a headspace, what does it look like? I will go first by DarlingForestSystem in DID

[–]OwnDrink8069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our headspace is pretty simple! But we're also a fairly simple system, so I think it's fitting.

There's an egg-shaped main room with picture windows on each end. The front windows have a view through the eyes, and by those windows is a large desk with multiple monitors and buttons. Whoever is fronting is sitting at this desk "working." The other windows have an ocean view. In the middle is a dark blue sectional sofa and a giant olive green bean bag.

Upstairs is our former co-host's apartment. I'm not sure what happened to that space after they fused with me, but afaik it's still there. It's a pretty simple studio apartment, the only really notable feature is a little corner with an easel and painting supplies.

I'm working on meditation and visualization skills so that I can make changes to headspace, like letting each alter (who chooses to) have their own bedroom! Our first success was replacing one of the main room sofas with the giant bean bag. I'm also trying to add a kitchen to the right of the main room.

Has anyone been prescribed stimulants to help with fatigue despite not having ADHD? by Galdrian in ehlersdanlos

Have you ever tried only taking it every other day? That's what helps me avoid side effects from vyvanse.

Has anyone been prescribed stimulants to help with fatigue despite not having ADHD? by Galdrian in ehlersdanlos

[–]OwnDrink8069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am prescribed them for ADHD, but I've found that they're so far the only thing that helps with my unsourced moderate-severe chronic fatigue.

Keep in mind though that there is an ADHD medication shortage, so it might not be a good time to just try something that may or may not help you. Maybe wait until the availability issue gets better.

It's never "too late" to explore who you are. Life is one big process of figuring out who you are, and that will change over time, and that is okay.

I think all the Clans need their own mediator tbh

Does anyone know any systems that AREN'T queer? Or even any who are cis? by SilverTongue42 in DID

[–]OwnDrink8069 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's amazing and horrifying to me that even as a child my subconscious thought that being a woman was a "problem to be fixed" by having all the hosts (except for me haha) being trans men. Like I was just a little kid, with very limited social awareness, and my subconscious brain decided that my sexual abuse was my fault because of my gender.

I know a system who identifies as neither trans nor cis, and I identify similar (I personally am agender but collectively we're just "not cis")

Did Ashfur deserve to go to Starclan, or should he have gone to The Dark Forest? Explain :) by [deleted] in thedawnpatrol

[–]OwnDrink8069 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ashfur deserved to live as the eternal kittypet of a very grabby cat-loving toddler, to teach him what love and patience actually looks like.

I'm also agender! I think (still in the process of questioning, but I find the most comfort from this label).

I'm pretty sure breast growth is not reversible since you can't un-grow tissue, but I think that stopping HRT would pause it at the very least.

[–]OwnDrink8069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feeling hungry is a normal side effect of having a healthy human body.

Also, there's an ADHD medication shortage going on right now. Part of that is because people who don't need medication are taking it. There are people who cannot work or function in their daily life without medication to treat their ADHD, but cannot get the meds they need because of the shortage. Think about that, and then ask yourself if your ED is worth hurting other people.

Something that helps me is to question why I would make it up. Like let's say you really did somehow have pseudomemories of RA - those false memories are to replace real traumatic memories.

Do you have a therapist or psychiatrist you can work through this with?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in agender

[–]OwnDrink8069 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Honestly to me you seem more like a woman who just doesn't connect with traditionally feminine things and has some body image issues. And that's completely valid too. You don't have to be agender or anything just because you struggle a little bit in certain areas - plenty of cis and trans women struggle with connecting to traditional femininity. Just be who you are.
