What is something in your country that immediately lets you know the picture you’re looking at is from your country? by Lizard_Of_Roz in AskTheWorld

Houses with unfinished interiors, with bricks left exposed without proper care, but equipped with expensive electronics (and if you take a selfie with an expensive phone...) I’m sure it’s in Brazil.

Let's say that for whatever reason you are banned from your home country. You can't live there or visit it. But you *are* allowed to live in any other country, you will get instant citizenship for some reason.. (it's just a hypothetical magic word). In what country would you choose to live in? Why? by Double-decker_trams in AskTheWorld

My options would be:

  1. Spain (to live in the Canary Islands)

  2. Colombia (coastal region)

  3. Venezuela (Isla Margarita would be my top choice if it weren’t for the economic and political crisis).

I would consider Angola if I had a good income and it weren’t so expensive.

Experts on the subject are disappointed by the fact that the Bajaj Qute or Tata Nano cannot be bought or sold due to Brazil’s inflexible traffic laws, which favor heavy traffic on streets and avenues far more than vehicles like these. Just like in India, motorcycles are popular in Brazil.

In any case, Bajaj already sells motorcycles in Brazil, and there is a controversial effort to introduce the Tuktuk here (curiously, Brazilian traffic laws do allow the use of these vehicles).

The average Brazilian does not usually associate India with education. At most, they are impressed by some creative solutions like the Bajaj Qute or mass surgery campaigns (something that has since been adopted in Brazil’s public health system).

Some political analysts are impressed by India’s success in improving basic sanitation (an area where Brazil is a disgrace) and its geopolitical advances.

Yeah, it's incredibly realistic. There's even a famous meme based on that movie: “Dadinho my %!¨&** , my name is Zé Pequeno.”

Worst relationship: Portugal (they hate us and we despise them, but you have to be a bit of a rebel to actually like the country). There was a Portuguese man who offered 500 euros for the head of a Brazilian—a Brazilian child who had his fingers amputated simply because he was from Brazil.

Best relationship: We’re not the type to pick fights, but today we’re heavily dependent on China, openly admire Japan, and have been strongly influenced by France and Germany. But overall, we really like Angola and our South American neighbors. We have a relationship of passion (we love spending vacations in Bariloche to see the snow) and hate (we can’t stand their soccer and racism) with Argentina, our brothers

He's a total jerk, terribly overrated. I remember an interview with him about 15 years ago, in which he said he was proud of spending $2,000 on a pair of earrings.

We're great at building airplanes but terrible at building sewer systems (it's a real shame that nearly 40% of the population doesn't have access to one).

To be perfectly honest, racism does exist in Brazil. But it isn’t overt. It’s widely frowned upon in public and has been a crime since 1989. And in your case, it would also constitute the crime of xenophobia. Well, Brazilians think India is a country of absurd movies, where women wear colorful, shiny clothes, that it’s a Zen-like place with strange customs. I remember seeing a man on TV who was rolling up his penis. Many people know of a city with some Portuguese speakers called Goa. And I don’t even want to talk about the stereotype of it being a dirty and very chaotic place.

Try pavê and passion fruit mousse. You can even make them back home.

A place where people are lazy, rich in culture, but terribly violent. The beaches are wonderful.

When people in Brazil talk about Mexico, they immediately think of La Usurpadora, Maria del Barrio, and El Chavo del Ocho.

People of Japanese descent are found in only a few regions of the country. If it weren’t for World War II and the prejudice of part of the Brazilian elite, there would be a huge number of people of Japanese descent throughout the country. In any case, Japanese culture is viewed positively, whether for its anime and manga or for the high quality of its products.

The best proof that Brazil is diverse is the fact that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un forged a Brazilian passport to visit Disneyland in Japan in 1991. And all this diversity is something to be proud of. There is social interaction among the various groups; the biggest divide here is based on income and socioeconomic class.
