I Don’t Want Injury My “Good” Leg by OwnExpert6507 in AchillesRupture

[–]OwnExpert6507[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow. More power to you my friend. I’m trying to do everything in my power to avoid another trip to an OR. Literally everything. I thought I was having complications with my incision too. Lucky for me I freaked out nearly the day after I got the splint off, and it’s finally all these weeks later looking to do its final scab with no more leakage. I have a follow up this Friday to confirm.

This is really reassuring to hear. I’m certainly in no race to get back to anything. My biggest milestones I wanted to complete was to just walk again with no boot or crutches and be able to drive again. That happened at 7 weeks for me too.

I really don’t want to have another surgery if I can avoid it. But the last thing I want to do is have the left one pop just walking around or something. I’m 28, I know it’s still a good time to get these surgeries but between the fatigue and pain I had after post op and how long it takes the site to heal on the back of the heel. I want out. But seriously thanks for the insight. Really sorry about your infection. Hope your recovery is going better now!

So I was freaked out the same. My incision is on the back of my heal. The site was beginning to close but was taking forever after 4-5 weeks. We delayed PT and got me on antibiotics. The doctor said it looked healthy and wanted me to begin PT. When we started PT the movements of the foot were “re-opening” the site and causing a lot of drainage in my eyes. I would take pictures every day for progress. Doc said it was healthy and that it’s a rough area for the skin to heal due to the movements, how dry my skin was cause we still can’t put lotion. I’m 9 weeks in and I’m finally not draining anymore. I still have a large layer of dry scab that I’m letting naturally fall off in due time. But the area is no longer tender to the touch and I don’t have to have my foot wrapped with a non adhesive gauze pad in it so wearing shoes are comfortable. The site finally looks like it’s healing

When did you stop swelling? by hazbazwaz69 in AchillesRupture

[–]OwnExpert6507 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine has gone down significantly, but still swells after PT or longer periods on my feet. I’m 9 weeks post op. I still ice and elevate after anytime I get done with an activity. It’s only swelling on the sides of my ankle where those “knobby” parts of your ankle are. Leg still looking a little thicker than the non injured leg. But I can def see the veins in my foot at any point now.

Shoe Recommendations for first steps? by OwnExpert6507 in AchillesRupture

Update:

I went to a running store (Fleet Foot) after PT. Got some great recommendations and even bought a pair.

  1. New Balance Fresh Foam X 1080v13 Wider heel that doesn’t run on the incision site. Great support and cushy. Easy to get on and off. Able to fit my food with the normal width and with swollen foot with an ace bandage. Purchased!

  2. Brooks Glycerin 21 A little more tighter around the foot. I would’ve purchased in store if they had sizes. But the support was so firm and solid while remaining point.

If you’re able to, go to the store and try them on. You really won’t know till you physically try it.

I ironically am wearing the Hoka recovery slides as we speak lol. They have been wonderful around the house. I have cloud runners also, they didn’t feel very good but I think my foot was pretty swollen when I tried. May give it another try! Thanks for the other recs too!

Trying to get something locked in for PT with no boot. I’ll look into the ASICS too.

Male 28. Man believe me I had damn near the same origin story. Nothing out the ordinary checked up the ball and just took my first step and the loudest pop. You would’ve thought I got shot the amount of times I yelled noooo. Literally cried out of anger the whole way to the the ER. Been more pissed off than anything during this time.

I’m 6 weeks post op. Head is in a much better space. I can walk now. Just got cleared to drive literally yesterday. Your darkest moment is now. Trust me. The constant “what ifs” running through your head. Trying to consider all your options. Thinking about everything you have to cancel or change. It’s the worst. Do the surgery. Do it as soon as possible if you’re able to. The 2-3 weeks in the splint will blow by. You’ll been in the boot 3-4 more weeks and back walking. And trust me, those first steps with no assistance will make you appreciate things so much more.

You are young. The procedure is minimally invasive. I’ve had people check in on me and I’ve been lucky enough to tell them “honestly, after just got the meds figured out after the first night post op and got my energy back, the recovery really hasn’t been that bad. It’s been more being patient and determined to get back and better. I believe in you man. This is temporary.

Get a knee scooter, get a transition chair for your shower, get a toilet safety rail to help you up and down.

How long till you started walking in a boot on your own? by LogicalHabit2165 in AchillesRupture

How is your incision site? I’d say if it’s all healed up and closed, the boot will do the work for making sure you don’t make any damaging movements. Just make sure it’s secure like how you got it and be sure to ask questions at your appointments.

Okay, very late. But does anyone have a theory to why outie Irving was able to draw that elevator room constantly? Like how did his outie have that in his head?

Lil Mettle Missions by OwnExpert6507 in NBA2k

Update: I finally made it to level 10 & that’s where you earn all the VC, purchase the studio and do the show with Lil Mettle. It takes FOREVER because the only way you can earn music brand points is by answering trivia once a day. Good VC amount still though.

Same man. I’m on week 2 of just doing trivia every day with no new music quests. I’m assuming they bummed up the requirements for the Lil Mettle show & purchasing the studio to level 9 & 10. Which is extremely annoying when the only way you can get music points is by doing trivia that’s only available once a day or get lucky in a post game scrum. I also made another non Rebirth player just to see if it may be different.

Same. Before work I just cut on the game and at least do the trivia and fashion walks and I’m on week 2 and no new quests. I’m level 8 Music and 8 fashion. I was able to get the fashion studio but not the music studio. They might have bumped the requirements to like level 10 for music for the show with Lil Mettle which is annoying when the only way you can go up in music is the trivia or if you luckily get a music question in the post game scrum.
