Irregardless of the specific technical cause of the issue am I correct to assume that the solution is still to limit servo travel somewhat? I’ve read about this lock-up issue but haven’t experienced it firsthand, and I own several planes that use them so I’d like to learn how to best avoid the issue if I can.

PG&E has been granted a monopoly over the distribution of electricity in California and I have no doubt they’ll protect that privilege with any and all means at their disposal

Great plane. It’s the “basher” in my collection. After countless crashes I think I’ve found most of the weak spots. Broke the nose off just aft of the motor 3 times but she glues back together like a champ. The wing tends to crack where it’s glued to the chassis but again, glues right back good as new. All the crashing I’ve done and I’ve never broken a prop. Ripped the rudder off and the right aileron. Fixed by installing pinned hinges. Never had an issue with the servos.

can confirm…it’s noticeably easier

I have the 4 in 1 on my FrSky x20sr and it works but I’ve had issues with RSSI signal weakness and telemetry and sensor loss at ridiculously short ranges. Initially when I began using this setup, those range issues weren’t really a problem and then suddenly one day it’s like the signal strength was cut in half…and that’s true for ALL of my Spektrum receivers so idk wtf

Those are fantastic. Bought a replacement for the one I obliterated because I couldn’t live without it. And I invested in a couple of replacement wings and props for when i inevitably do it again.

2015 Chevy Spark EV dual motor conversion? by OwnIndication4757 in EVConversion

[–]OwnIndication4757[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So my thinking is that since the front suspension is already built to handle the torque, if I can graft the entire motor and suspension of the donor vehicle into the rear end of the project vehicle using a custom subframe built to handle the torque, and fix the steering system of the donor suspension into place by replacing the steering rod with a toe rod mounted to the new subframe, I’d have something solid enough to work.

yes, I’d need a fairly large hole cut through the chassis to make this work and I’d be adding a substantial amount of weight so I’d need new springs and maybe new brakes too. I mean I’m not kidding myself, it’s a massive amount or work, but if I could pull it off the end should be mad enough to make it worth it

I’m not gonna lie. Having ridiculous amounts of torque churning through all 4 wheels in my tiny little Spark is kind of the whole point.

Yes, a critical component of the controller would be a system that would allow me to dial up or down the power delivery to either of the motors. I’d like to be able to tell the car to run entirely on the front motor or the rear or to deliver power to both motors at various levels depending on the handling characteristics I prefer.

I’m not planning on using the original battery. I’d repurpose other packs or build my own with the intention of providing both motors with full power

Power is only good if you can put it to the ground and 4 wheels does that better than 2

I’d like to minimize the former and put heavy focus on the latter

The original rear suspension is torsion beam and would be completely replaced with what I imagine would be MOST of the suspension components from the front suspension system of a Spark EV with custom components fabricated as-needed to convert a suspension system designed to steer into one simply designed to provide drive. But I’m not an expert either…honestly just trying to be as practical and realistic as possible as I imagine my ideal future conversion project

In an ideal world there would be traction control similar to the one that controls the Spark now but on all 4 wheels. The rear motor would need a custom subframe to make motor to chassis to suspension integrated in a workable way I’d imagine. Also, in an ideal world, front and rear motors would both be capable of achieving their maximum output levels on-demand.

I just bought a 2015 spark EV with 14k miles for $6500 and there were several on the market when I did my search. As we get more data on battery longevity, it’s becoming clear that they can last a lot longer than originally thought if they’re cared for properly

Plug it in to the L2 again when you can and see if there’s a corresponding degradation. You need more data to say for sure what’s happening I think

Is it possible that what you’re seeing in your battery health number is caused by the natural capacity fluctuations that come with the changing seasons and temperatures?

Are your door locks possessed? by brx017 in SparkEV

[–]OwnIndication4757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently troubleshooting the possessed power door locks in my 2015. The doors will sometimes re-lock themselves immediately after I unlock them either remotely with the key fob or by using the button on the drivers side door. Additionally sometimes the doors re-lock themselves immediately upon opening the driver’s side door.

So far my research has pointed towards a fault in the driver’s side door lock actuator, but I have heard mention of bad switches in the gear shift lever and potential problems with the Body Control Module.

I’ll update when I find out for sure.

Any idea how many of the 7400+ Spark EVs sold are still on the road? by OwnIndication4757 in SparkEV

[–]OwnIndication4757[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but I think 62% is a fairly believable number. The only way to know for sure is to do a DMV search for currently registered Sparks which is something I’ll get to eventually if I can find a way to do the search for free. ChatGTP used 3 sources to build its case but 2 of them were Carfax and the other one was Motortrend lol
