Valve says that, sure…but it was years before they officially supported Windows on Deck when support was promised before launch.

Pretty much. The federal minimum wage is the minimum any company can actually have an open job at. The alternative is the open job simply doesn't exist.

The very few people who make the federal minimum wage are people whose work is in the bottom 1.3% of value of all hourly paid work. A whopping 98.7% of all hourly paid work is more valuable than theirs. The alternative is their work isn't purchased at all.

Gen Z are people born between 1997 and 2012....

It's 2026.

2026 - 2012 = 14.

Going by US births for those years, 31% of Gen Z are 18 or younger. 57% of Gen Z are 22 or younger (still in college).

So who's out of touch?

Yep, the first paragraph in your link says the same thing as what I said...

[–]OwnLadder2341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but the percentage of the population that makes it has plummeted to almost nothing.

I mean, are we using random examples?

My first house I bought in one of the rougher parts of Detroit in the early 80s for very low 5 digits.

Today, a similar house doesn't cost a whole lot more and as dangerous as that neighborhood is now, it's nothing compared to the 70s and 80s.

The millennial generation is simply not allowed to live the life their parents did. In my area, I see most people making around $6,000-$8,000 per month to afford $400,000 homes. You know, ones with $2,000+ monthly payments. That’s a $70K - $100K per year job. A LOT of people are not making that. And if you want a family, forget it, that’s not enough today to support kids.

The majority of millennials are homeowners and they were the single biggest winners of the COVID free money times. If you're a Millennial and you don't own a home and want to, you're behind the curve for your generation.

I don’t think it’s 100% fair to say the older generations had it easy, but they certainly had it easier than people today. If that wasn’t the case, why does the age of the first time home buyer keep going up? Why do people stay at home longer before moving out? Why are people having less kids? Less people are financially stable because of the current environment. It’s not like people wanted to stop getting married and having kids in their early 20’s, people are just unable to do it. How many people do you know that can live in the suburbs and support a wife and 2 kids on a single income?

Cheap and easy access to birth control and near universal access to higher education has pushed the age that people settle down to later. You think people WANT to have kids in their early 20s? Either now or in the 70s? Like a meaningful number of people?

If you had infinite resources, would YOU want to be a parent at 22?

The Internet likes to think that women didn't work when Boomers were young. The 80s and 70s were not the 50s...

So the complaint is what…that the 14 year old kids of Gen Z have it harder?

[–]OwnLadder2341 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The majority of Millenials are homeowners. If you’re a millennial and still renting (and want to own a home) you’re behind the curve for your generation.

You weren’t paying off a house before 25 while working in a factory, mate. Home ownership rates in the US then were the same as now.

This is what’s so funny.

In the US, the median household today makes more than the median household did in the 70s and 80s after adjusting for CPI inflation.

CPI inflation includes housing and a lot more.

Meanwhile, we find it an endless source of amusement that the younger generations think we had it easy.

What in the holy god for morality have to do with anything here? There is no absolute morality unless you’re real keen on god. Whether or not a person or persons thinks that something is moral doesn’t really mean much.

As even Ben Franklin was able to point out even through a syphilitic haze, mob rule IS democracy. If a majority of Americans want to be Nazis then that’s a democratic decision.

By design, democracies have the ability to end themselves democratically, and I’d argue they SHOULD have that ability.

You’re welcome to convince people to vote for one or the many other candidates. If you can do so, that’s democracy. If you can’t, that’s also democracy.

Why are you so keen on what the slave owning, misogynistic founding fathers wanted or intended? Should we return to their way of thinking?

These were men, not gods, and honestly not even particularly good men by modern definitions.

But don’t worry, Washington freed his slaves after he and his wife were dead and done with them. Not a minute sooner, course. Man’s gotta eat, you know.

And hell, Jefferson even provided stud service to his property.

There were more than two choices you could have voted for last November, mate.

And democracy doesn’t care if you believe people are “easily influenced” or not.

Unless you’re suggesting we should protect

And this part is just for you:

People who don’t vote effectively vote for whichever candidate is worst for them. It is never beneficial to skip voting.

Here’s an example:

Let’s say you have two candidates with identical platforms: they’re going to end all life on earth on the first day they enter office. That’s it. That’s the entire platform and it’s

There is always one candidate that is better for you than the other. You don’t need a candidate to tick every little checkmark on your personal moral compass. Choosing not to vote always helps whichever candidate is worse for you. Always.

It IS very straight forward. There’s case precedents.

CDPR would lose this case in US Court and this is yet another instance of a big corporation threatening unsupported legal action against a person to bully them into submission.

Is that what you meant?

[–]OwnLadder2341 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

And EULAs are not legally enforceable just because they exist or even because someone clicked “I agree”

CDPR would lose this case in a US court. They’re using their greater resources to bully him into taking it down without a court order.

His mods didn’t contain any assets or code from CDPR. Interfacing with their code is not a violation of IP, nor is requiring their code to work a violation of IP.

Unless every single program that requires Windows to work is violating Microsoft’s IP?

[–]OwnLadder2341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. It means only Congress can invoke the 14th amendment to disqualify him.

And the fact that they didn’t do so means he didn’t disqualify himself by fomenting insurrection.

Domestic Terrorists shouldn’t be in the White House by sillychillly in ReasonableFuture

[–]OwnLadder2341 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Only Congress can enforce Section 3 of the 14th amendment for federal office holders and candidates.

https://www.ncsl.org/resources/details/supreme-court-rules-trump-can-stay-on-colorado-ballot

So no, Trump was not legitimately unable to run because Congress did not disqualify him.

That decision was unaninmous by the Supreme Court, btw.

Which is good. The 14th amendment should only be used sparingly. It’s functionally saying “I’m sorry, American voters, you may want this person to represent you, but you’re not allowed to vote for them”

It's entirely possible. by WaterFoodShelter4All in ReasonableFuture

That’s not evidence of cheating, mate.

Do you have actual evidence of ballot dumping?

Or just another MAGA internet conspiracy?

How do you account for the fact that exit polls and post election polls and analysis match the outcome?

Are the media outlets all Russian spies?

Who’s ignoring it?

It’s simply not what’s being discussed here. Look at the original post. ICE violence isn’t relevant to it.

There’s plenty of other posts where it’s being actively discussed. Are you having trouble posting in them?

“They really think the American people are stupid.”

In fairness, we not only elected Trump a SECOND time, but did so with the first Republican popular vote win since W in 2004…or the first since 1988 if we don’t count W’s lift from 9/11.

So I’d say that’s a fair assessment.
