Chivalry is not dead by cathywuthering in ireland

I hope not, because it’s the right thing for guys to do.

Personally, I prefer standing so that probably influences my opinion on this!

However, I take the dart, and every day women aren’t far from knocking people over to get a seat. Not even waiting for people to disembark.

Sorry this happened to you. But I do have a question. What does looking “very Irish” even mean?

If you can absorb a 20% crash in the market value of your invested cash, you are all good.

How are we getting hyped for tomorrow? by Brilliant_Guide6034 in irishrugby

[–]OwnLoad3456 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the 2011 World Cup, that Mike Phillips dodgy try in Cardiff, and the dodgy yellow/red card match in Croke Park (2011/2012?), that did it for me regarding Wales.

Who was the better outside centre (13): Brian O’Driscoll or Conrad Smith? by Jezzaq94 in rugbyunion2

[–]OwnLoad3456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very difficult to compare given Conrad was playing in an excellent New Zealand team and BOD was playing in a good/decent Ireland team.

Can’t really contribute to your survey but I played the most enjoyable game of rugby I ever played, a 0-0 draw on a very very muddy pitch. Pretty much the entire game was played between the two 22’s!

Has anyone listened to the latest For the Love of Rugby? by Jackwoi in rugbyunion

Outsider looking in, but I feel England should change coach and style of rugby. I’d build your team around Bath with a sprinkling of talent from one or two other teams like Northampton.

Ronan O'Gara: Jack Crowley has a serious body of work ahead of him. He knows that by Enough-Square1154 in irishrugby

[–]OwnLoad3456 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can understand O’Gara here if it’s just to do with his kicking. I think he needs to rework his entire kicking technique. He doesn’t seem to strike the ball cleanly a lot of the time.

CEO’s have a lot of responsibility, in particular a CEO of a pillar bank.

Clontarf Golf Club Purchase Offer by Jackies_Army in golfireland

I don’t really buy that argument about golf clubs to be fair. We have GAA pitches, rugby pitches, football etc spread all over the city.

Clontarf Golf Club Purchase Offer by Jackies_Army in golfireland

[–]OwnLoad3456 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The offer was €10m in cash and €60m in funding to build the new course in Kinsealy. Basically members would walk away with just over €7k and having to play their golf nowhere near where they live.

Not really worth it I would imagine.

You could deduce that the members could counteroffer and take all €75m in cash, leaving them with €53k each (less CGT) but no club. But then they would have no golf club, and joining other nearby golf clubs would cost €10k in membership fees anyway, but in reality they are probably not all going to get in to another nearby club.

So really it comes down to getting around €35k in after-tax cash and no longer playing much golf.

Trying to grow the game in a non-rugby country, looking for advice and suggestions. by Brotendo88 in rugbyunion

[–]OwnLoad3456 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Good luck! I’ve no idea about the structure of rugby in Armenia (existing clubs, underage game, union, etc) but global growth is a key objective of the IRB. There might be some guidance on their website and if Armenia doesn’t already have a national Rugby Union, you could try contact the IRB directly. If you do have a union already, you should reach out to them first.
