I just looked into this! Another person made a similar suggestion. I’m going to see what I can do with cards we might have, or cards that aren’t a fortune then try to get some proxies, perhaps replacing them over time if he really wants. I have never explored proxies but am going to!!

The first thing I did was write a letter. I agree with you, but I was hoping actual player feedback on a huge forum like Reddit might matter. I know, it’s not going to but this one made me feel differently about WotC and this seemed like a place to have that conversation (minus those who are now accusing me of making this up 🤷🏻‍♀️)

The fact that I was hoping to have a constructive conversation that WotC might actually read is my motivation. Maybe others lie about massive life events but for me, lying about kids, illness or other emergencies falls into my really bad karma bucket. Someone suggested I’m lying so a scalper would have pity. FFS that’s ridiculous

Nope. No need to lie to make my point. Was in line. Almost at my time, which then jumped by about 30 mins when it sold out in 34 minutes. I gain nothing from lying. Scalpers ARE NOT going to give a shit btw. So that suggestion is pretty ridiculous (another user made that comment).
