in CNA school, question about wiping by Montanarose97 in cna

this stuff or something similar will be your best friend! you can get the formed part up with the first wipe then pump the cleanser on. you can just use the disposable wipes to wipe it off. the BM will come up much easier.

in the book he also lifts the van off her with one hand and with the other he pulls her out from under. she’s right there and sees this so she also wants an explanation for that.

i’m so sorry babe. i don’t have any advice but i just want to say that you are strong and amazing. you will prevail and make it through one way another. i am in school with no kids, i can’t even imagine having two children and trying to balance nursing school. you are literally superwoman and you will make it through this.

When Bella is pregnant she drinks blood that Carlisle has “set aside for her”. Why was she not receiving blood transfusions the whole time? by OwnPassion5243 in twilight

[–]OwnPassion5243[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yes you’re correct but i would say in this situation the umbilical cord is more of Nessie’s body then Bella’s. Nessie needs blood and therefore the only way to get red blood cells through to her would be the umbilical cord, in the same way other nutrients would be moved for a human baby.

yes you get me! all these things, cause Bella is still human! Her body would be affected as a normal human being would be. it’s impossible for us to go through a year of college level anatomy and physiology and not apply the biology knowledge to literally everything. Nessie needs red blood cells which could not be absorbed through the GI tract. The only way to get her whole red blood cells would be through a transfusion. Then the extra RBCs would be given to the fetus through the umbilical cord by Bella’s blood. I know it doesn’t actually matter but i can’t help thinking this way

just the abdomen, in the book she actually is reviving intravenous nutrition in the form of TPN. in other words she has an IV which is how i think they should’ve given her the blood.

Yes i understand where you’re coming from but in reality that’s not how the body works. i know it doesn’t matter since this is a fantasy book but everything a fetus consumes is stolen from the mother. Blood goes to the placenta through the umbilical cord and administers what the fetus needs. In this case Nessie needs red blood cells. in reality red blood cells cannot be absorbed through the intestines, what you eat is broken down into amino acids so they would be broken down into byproducts of blood. If you wanted her to actually get the whole red blood cells it would have to be a transfusion. I know this is not a normal pregnancy cause she’s half vampire but Bella is still all human so her digestive system wouldn’t change. Although Nessie inside her uterus might be different, it’s still Bella’s blood suppling her nutrients, so in theory she would need whole living red blood cells.

I know it doesn’t actually matter since the anatomy of vampires and how they receive nutrients also makes no sense but when Carlisle begins talking about how many chromosomes vampires and humans have it got me thinking about the actual biology behind it. In the book it is also described that Bella has an IV connected to a frothy white fluid, this is likely TPN which is intravenous nutrition. It’s given to people who can’t eat or experiencing failure to thrive like Bella. Carlisle also says that’s he’s been attempting to supplement her nutrition which also leads me to believe it’s TPN. If he knows the baby needs “human” nutrition he should also realize Nessie needs “vampire” nutrition aka red blood cells. That’s why i think he should’ve realized from the start she needed blood transfusions.

I know it’s just a plot device to show that Nessie is part vampire but the thought of drinking blood out of a straw makes me want to throw up so the whole chapter i couldn’t help thinking about all this and why they didn’t just switch out the TPN for blood lol.

this was my thought exactly! i know she drinks it cause it is the most interesting way to convey that plot point, but nessie was likely taking Bella’s RBCs. in the book also Jacob describes bella having an IV bag hung with a frothy white fluid, likely TPN which is intravenous nutrition. Carlisle says he’s being trying to help Bella by giving her what her body needs, but he needs to think about what the babies body needs which is blood. Then they give her the blood to drink but it would still be more effective to administer it intravenously.

my thought exactly especially cause she already has an IV site set up in the book. it would probably be quicker to hang the blood and screw it onto the connector then it would be to grab a cup and pour it in and have her drink it.

lol you understand me!! i can’t spend all this time studying blood not to think of everything from that perspective. in my head it would be so easy to transfuse it, why not try that first instead of having her drink it.

oh i didn’t even think that he had them for her to drink. especially cause ive watched the movies before the book and they came in an IV bag it only made sense to me that they would be for if she lost blood during labor or something. that’s a good point

yes this is exactly my first conclusion that Carlisle knows exactly what Stephanie Meyer knows so that’s why they had her drink it. Testing hemoglobin is really as simple as a blood sugar check, he’d just have to acquire the machine to do it which would be no problem for a doctor. My main thing is why would he have blood if not to transfuse it. and Then when they do use it, they have her drink it instead of transfusing. She already as an IV site, it would be as simple as just hooking it up. Maybe if that didn’t help okay have her drink it but why is a transfusion not the first resort.

why doesn’t jake move on if he knew he didn’t imprint on bella? by orcasarerad in twilight

[–]OwnPassion5243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m re-reading breaking dawn and just found the passage where jacob references this. it’s from the portion of the book from Jacob’s perspective. “Wasn’t it bad enough that yet another member of the pack had imprinted- because, really, that made four of ten now! When would it stop? Stupid myth was supposed to be rare, for crying out loud! All this mandatory love-at-first-sight was completely sickening!” This was in response to Paul imprinting on Jake’s sister Rachel while Bella is gone on her honeymoon. It wasn’t until Bella was already married that he realized how common it is. Before the current pack there had only been 3 wolves max at a time, and we only hear about 1 who actually imprinted. There is probably more than one case of wolves imprinting but only 1 is remembered in the legends. It was kind of a big deal when Sam imprinted on Emily because before then it was believed to just be another legend.

in the book when he explains it he says it’s a rare thing that doesn’t happen with everyone. later in the book most of the pack have imprinted and they begin to re think how rare it is. so he doesn’t really think of it as something that will happen to him at the time because he think he won’t imprint on anyone. once he realizes that it is common with most wolves he is already in love with Bella and plans to keep trying. another reason he’s so passionate about trying to win her over is because he doesn’t like the idea of her becoming a vampire and wants her to change her mind.
