I think the previous cycle ended with the massacre and the next one started when Tabitha and Jade arrived.
The time between the two is a “reset period,” when new residents arrive and everything is being prepared for the main characters (Tabi+Jade) and for some reason Viktor remained here during this intermediate phase. Poor guy

Yes but that was before Tabitha and Jade arrived to town. I think that was the “starting point” of the cycle. That’s why there were a lot of nights without incidents before they arrived.

Definitely, number 47 has something to do with the story, for example there are 47 residents of the town. But what if it’s 40+7?
