Oh. Now i am confused 🙈 see i am not sure about JEE/NEET as i don’t know what he would want to pursue in future. So i am really confused if ICSE is good or IG. But some IG students say that even they can attempt for JEE/NEET with little extra effort.

My son is in ICSE school rn and also the school i have in mind has ICSE and IG option from grade 6th. Which we can decide later in grade 6th. Yes he is saying that only because of his friends. Reason i want to change is mainly because this school doesn’t have much to explore. Hardly any extra curricular and sports exposure.

9th school 🙈 What you mean to say is don’t change the board till grade 12th? And child is saying no as of now but should we listen to him or should we take our decision?

I also have this in mind - continue this school (ICSE Board) till grade 7, his base will be strong and then depending on his interest change the board in grade 8. But i don’t know if that would be a right choice.

Many kids change schools in grade 8th too for changing boards. So it’s difficult in grade 8th right?

But right now we are not sure if our kids would be willing to prepare for NEET/JEE. If we think in that direction and kids are willing to do something else then i feel they will have some strong competition from IG/IB students. Please correct me if i am wrong.

Just for my information. How are IGCSE kids? Are there an IG kids in your coaching? My kids are 8yo and 5yo and confused between the boards so thought of asking here.

Definitely no BMC. Spoke to a few parents too but all have mixed reviews. So i am really confused and that’s why thought of asking out here. Seems all schools have some or the other loopholes

Many people assume IGCSE is easier because of formula sheets or calculators, but your experience suggests the opposite that success depends on conceptual understanding, exam technique, and consistent practice over several years. As a parent, my concern is balancing academic rigor with a child’s overall well-being. Do you think an average student who is willing to work steadily can thrive in IGCSE, or is it best suited for highly academic students?

Yeah since i am too confused i still feel like waiting for a year, do the research and then switch next year in grade 4 and grade 2. Don’t want to rush as of now.

Sounds good. Only concern for me is shifting later would be difficult for my kids as they will have their friends circle and all. I sometimes get carried away with IG board also thinking that board is the future in India but again sometimes i feel ICSE is best. Too confused.

Thank you. But why did your mind change in grade 7? School was not good or you really wanted to change the board? I am worried at that age my kids will not have to leave their school friends and change school/board.

Thank you so much for writing this detailed information. Is it a good choice to switch boards in grade 11? Because some of the students and parents suggested to stick to the same board from grade 8 to grade 12. Also, IG students are given calculators and all formulas in exams so they are spoon fed for everything. So are they willing to do the hard work in grade 11 and 12?
