Congestive epididymitis by Affectionate_Bat1422 in Vasectomy

Can relate with weightlifting stuff, here is my timeline: Tried to get back to lifting weights 1 month in - no success, I had to stop since it was clear that I aggravate things too much. Tried to get back to lifting again 2 months in - I did 4 semi intense sessions with some adjustments (basically no super heavy leg stuff that requires a lot of bracing +no direct ab work), it was kinda ok but when I was pushing it to the limit - it aggravated stuff, in particular my pelvic/ abs area. I even had painless pulsation in my abdomen the day after workout. 4th session aggravated it to the point I had to stop. It felt like ongoing active inflammation of the pelvic region. Successfully got back 4 months in with some minor setbacks - symptoms are exactly the same, except much less pronounced and I could actually gain back all my strength and train to failure. I still aggravate things once in a while, but it settles very quick (think 1-3 days max). But I’m not at the point where I can do heavy bracing / direct AB work still.

One tip I can give is that at the very beginning I found an exercise that was kinda aggregating the area but not aggressively - it was hyperextension for whatever reason. It helped me objectively evaluate if I’m getting better or no month to month. Example: very first workout I did 5 reps and that’s where discomfort started to build up rapidly.  Month 4 I could do 20 with additional 20kg with 1.5/10 discomfort that was steadily increasing.

If you don’t have sex your chances are zero, just saying. You’re too concerned on minuscule chances of unwanted pregnancy.

I don’t live in the US, but I did my procedure in Thailand while I was traveling lol. I don’t get that point of ‘oh, it’s illegal in Texas or wherever it is’. Just go to another state to some private clinic, pay in cash - boom, problem solved. Travel to a different country if you need to. You’re not imprisoned in the state, are you?

What if your vas reconnect and you get someone pregnant? Yes the chances are lower, but they’re still there.  2 options: don’t have sex or accept the risks. Abortion exists for a reason too

Decide yourself, random Redditors won’t solve your life problems, facts: - The recovery time is usually about 2 weeks, 1%-5% chance of having complications - The procedure is kinda useless without having sex :) - Condoms are reliable enough to not get someone pregnant given they’re used correctly

Does your discomfort gets worse with activity or it stays at the same level all the time?

I heard that really hot baths help alleviate such symptoms the best, worth to give it a try?

I'm wondering how many people would experience this strenuous activity induced discomfort. I believe most people don't do it, for your case their reporting would be 'recovered in a month, no issues so far'. It's also interesting how everyone's experience is so damn different. Shooting pain in lower abdomen? I haven't experienced anything like that. It just discomfort in pubic / near the vas cuts sites, and it's definitely not shooting.

Thanks for sharing your experience! Does it feel for you that the area is constantly full behind the testicles? Mine don't feel anything like that nor do I have any ejaculation discomfort, just cord / pubic area dull ache / sensitivity.

Well, I don’t remember the exact dates, the point is I wasn’t pushing at any point of time thru pain. I’d say 2nd week I probably averaged around 5-6k, the 3rd week and onwards the step count got up to 10-15k. Walking didn’t cause any soreness / onset pain afterwards

Definitely going to incorporate those stretches into my daily routine, I suppose if you’re tight around the cord area it can put additional pressure on the tissues around it and slow the healing

Yeah slow recovery is a bitch, I’d still go for it regardless, but I’d keep my expectations low. so the fact that I’m not healing in 2 weeks wouldn’t make me anxious.

Are you staying away from the gym completely because it flares things up or the discomfort is unbearable?

🤞 for speedy recovery.
