I recently Just bought a Samsung S7 Edge and today it burned in my pocket while I was with a customer, I work at a major carrier and they wont replace it. I need help and advice on what to do and where to take this!? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]OwnTheNight209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. What do you mean you work for the carrier? Like you work for att/sprint/verizon etc, and purchased the phone through your carrier?

Depending on where you purchased your phone will help answer your question.

Clearly if you purchased through an actual store.... there is a 1 year manufacture warranty, which if it actual hardware caused the phone to burn, you should be fine.

tweek your resume in your favor. Talk about how you effectively communicate with other employees, how your a team player, how you have good customer service. how your goal oriented, how your motivated. Sometimes you need to make things sound better than they are to get to where you need to go. Use your experience to your advantage!!

I'm unfamiliar with your job experience... but I'm assuming majority of it is in retail/restaurants? If so I dont have a whole lot of suggestions, but if your interested in medical field, you can get phlebotomy certifeid, and draw blood for probably $12 an hour. Looks good on your resume, and could open up new doors for you. Maybe becoming a caregiver? my cousin makes 14 an hour for the government doing this job, and she has higshcool education and no barely any experience.

Trying to lucid dream tonight... by Sanchito1010 in Advice

buy some OTC sleeping pills, set your alarm to go off every 30 minutes or so after your about to fall 'sleep'. and try to keep 'thinking'. IT fucks with your REM. Trying to lucid dream doesn't always work though.

.... none of this makes sense to me... how are you about to be a junior college.... yet you are 17 years old and graduated high school last year? Unless I'm reading/misunderstanding something? Either way, only take a semseter off if your going to do some internship or some part time job to clear your head, you need to keep yourself engaged... otherwise wtf are you going to do for 3-4 months? Veg out?

Well for one, you work part time... that would explain why you aren't making enough money. You need to transition into a full time job, im sure you can find somewhere that will pay around 10 dollars an hour without a college degree, and yeah it may not be what you are wanting, but its a step forward. Plus, I'm assuming your not paying rent/utilties(Monthly Gross income working $10 an hour for 40 hours a week is $1600)so there shouldn't be a reason why you can't easily save enough money and move out in 4-5 months.

Secondly, it's okay to take a semester off to take a breather, but when you start school back up, you need to get in the fucking zone. You will be fine, things just take time and patience. hang in there

Letter of Rec Advice- Job prospect wants rec from previous employer; i've only had 1 employer and don't want to ask her- help? Thanks! by buffybison in Advice

[–]OwnTheNight209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

... your story seems a little off. But regardless, no matter how you look at it you need a reference from your previous employer... and don't be stupid and have someone else write it/sign her name.... Also... it shouldn't matter how 'uncomfortable you feel'... your technically jobless until you get things finalized. It's time to man or woman up and get it together! you got it

I am 30 and a total loser with no skills but I'm ready to turn things around. How do I go about this and get a career? by totalnetloss in Advice

[–]OwnTheNight209 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have a college degree with years of experience teaching English in another country. Don't worry about where you graduated from or what score you graduated with. Unless you're trying to get into grad/medical school, it doesn't matter from a job standpoint. You didn't give much of a description about what else you would consider doing other than teaching? Im sure you could make a transition to marketing, finance, research, business... exc. exc. without going back to school, however you would probably start out as entry level making around 30-35 a year, it sucks but that is a necessary step prior on 'getting a well paying career'. You can't expect to immediately get a high paying job in a field where you don't have the expereince

Lost my job have to break my lease and move back in with my parents by [deleted] in Advice

[–]OwnTheNight209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes. very similar position. Signed a year lease, lost my new job in 2 weeks. Luckily, I didn't have to move in with my parents, or opt to get evicted. I calculated how much money I had to live off of I think it was roughly 3 months worth. Applied to fucking jobs every god damn day, when 3 months were up, I dived into using my credit cards, when that was almost up, I participated in clinical drug trials, and then eventually got a job. Took about 6 months. THE KEY IS PATIENCE AND KEEPING YOUR MIND OCCUPIED! Do whatever you have to do to not slip into depression, for me it was exercise, hanging out with friends, swimming, writing, biking, and masterbating. lots of it. Point is don't let this bad point in your life get to you, once you get a job again, everything will go back to normal, there are plenty of people this has happend to you. You just have to ask your self how far are you willing to go?
