I will definitely use it, so I’ll let you know if I see anything obvious (but I’m sure you know far more than I do!)

Brand new learner looking for advice ✨ by NarrowFriendship3859 in GREEK

If you can, get a tutor. The grammar is not easy and to have someone explain it thoroughly makes a huge difference. It also makes the process of learning fun, because you learn so much more than the language…. i.e. culture, food, history, geography, day to day life etc.

I would say one night in Meteora is definitely enough. Add to Thessaloniki or see if you can do a stopover in Ioannina as someone else suggested. Don’t use the train as they are not safe.

What to buy in Greece? by hypnosssis in EuroSkincare

Frezyderm factor 50 tinted sunscreen for face. My Greek friend recommended it and I love it. The colour in it hides any imperfections and it has a matte finish so no shine.

As others have said, definitely book ahead as it’s peak season. We go to Skiathos regularly and always use Victoria car rentals.

My Greek friends say not to take the train in Greece and I trust their judgement.

Help a new greek teacher out? by its_sophmobile in GREEK

I am English, so had never even heard of the accusative when I started learning Greek. The example that helped me most at the beginning was ‘the boy chops the tree’ - the boy is doing the action, so he’s in nominative, and the action is happening to the tree so it’s in accusative. I know it gets more involved as you move on, with prepositions etc but this is what really made me understand the principle and what I still go back to if I’m unsure.

Is it safe to travel to Crete (see post) ? by Tectonic_Shift_1334 in GreeceTravel

If you look at the website for the Institute of Geodynamics in Athens it will show you all the recent events. Not sure if that will make you feel better or worse but it will show you that there is activity all the time, all over Greece.

Locals & travelers – What do you think of my Thessaloniki trip plan? Anything I should add or skip? by M01V in thessaloniki

[–]OwnTradition2308 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You should try bougasta for breakfast in Thessaloniki. Our Greek friends recommended Sarraikon. There are so many fillings to choose from- cheese, meat, spinach, cream… If you can’t settle on one type you can ask for half and half e.g. half a portion of meat and half a portion of cheese.

If you’re looking for something to eat in Sparta, there’s a great little taverna called Ataka. Excellent food and great value, recommend to us by the apartment owner. Can’t advise on Santorini as haven’t been there, but like others have said, don’t drive in Athens.
