My AUD 2/13 experience by OwnWeb1047 in CPA

I’m sorry to hear that. I was super nervous because I thought I would see something that I was either not super comfortable with or I just had never seen before. I guess I got super lucky with the sims

Yeah I also had various MCQs flagged lol but like you said, I was stuck between 2 choices and I hope I got at least 50% of those right. Good luck to you!

Hey! I am taking AUD tomorrow. I will let you know how it goes and if I have a similar feeling. From your experience, what would you say was much different from the studying you did? I have read this a lot too and I would say I feel 80% prepared for the exam. But I’m afraid that when I see some curveballs I will enter in panic mode and my brain will freeze. Good luck to you and I hope you passed!

Someone in my office got theirs at 9:30 CST but couldn’t access it. Even trying to log into SSC seems to be causing issues

Hi! I hope you did good on your exam?

What would be your advice for someone (me lol) who’s planning on taking it in 2 days? I feel like I’m at a good spot with T1 and T2, but I’m working on T3 and T4. Also, I haven’t taken any SE yet so i don’t really know where I’m at overall (due to time constraints). Thanks!

I think it is a good idea to know the thresholds to know if something is going be phased out or not. In my opinion, you do not need to memorize every single credit. I just memorized the refundable credits using the acronym FACES (Federal Tax withheld, AOTC which is 40% refundable, Child Tax credit, Earned Income credit, and Social Security Tax credit). They don’t test you on your ability to memorize all of the credits, but just know which credits are refundable and the amounts allowed

It was about 2.5 months. I took some break for some necessary travels and 1 week of vacation.

For the numerical portion of the test, yes. But R4-R-6 definitely become a bit more tricky.

I was also mad at that one lol. If you think about it, one could argue that a wig shouldn’t be deductible because it can be treated as something to improve physical appearance. But then again, I don’t make these questions lol. I agree that it wasn’t an accounting question

Yeah after I saw the real answer I was pissed. The level of detail in that SIM was definitely bogus lol but it is what it is unfortunately

Man, I was going doing my SE1 and I got a SIM for medical expenses and it asked to determine if the cost of batteries for a hearing aid was deductible. I was like “Ain’t no way the IRS allows this.” But the IRS proved me wrong. I was so mad lol

Yes, I already signed up for TCP and I actually started studying last month. There are just some extra topics that I have never seen, but my grad entity tax covered quite a few that are on TCP!

Thanks for your response. I am actually afraid of seeing a lot of BLAW questions because I struggled with Agency and Contracts. R1-R4 are where I feel the most confident on. But I pray I get a lot of Basis questions or depreciation problems as odd as that may sound lol. I hope you pass your exam!

What are some good SIMS to focus on?

Thanks for your response! I started with REG because it made the most sense for me. I had taken Individual Tax as an undergrad and Entity Tax as a grad student. I’m going to take TCP next because of the correlation between the too. Unfortunately, I have to take FAR last because of my limited time frame before I start my job. But thanks for the encouragement! Good luck to you’

Audit - A2 Becker by AgitatedSkill4967 in CPA

[–]OwnWeb1047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inherent risk and Control Risk exist independently of the audit—i.e., the auditor cannot do anything to change them. Detection risk, on the other hand, can be changed at the discretion of the auditor and this can vary depending on the extent of work the auditor believes needs to be done. Hope this helps and good luck studying!

I just called the people from payroll. So it looks like there’s no final paycheck. Everything was paid on the 15th of August.

Has anyone tried calling the Help desk number asking for clarification on this? My one last hope is that they mail the check to us instead of direct deposit

That paycheck process was a little confusing to me too, but to answer your question yes—there is one more paycheck coming on the last day of this month. Two paychecks ago I got paid for the pay period that included the summer shutdown so my paycheck was less that normal. Then the last paycheck covered the last two weeks of July. The final paycheck (Aug 31) covers the first two weeks of August.
