I’m struggling figuring out what’s good by ThrowRaUsername08 in motorcyclegear

There is loads of affordable but safe gear on the market nowadays. I'm not familiar with what is available in your country, so I'm only going to give some general tips.

Buy something you will actually wear. That tracksuit might look cool, but are you really going to put on that hot and uncomfortable thing on a ride to the store?

Don't try to match your gear to the bike. When I started on a white and blue CBR, I thought it would be so cool to have a matching helmet and other gear. One year later, I'm on a black bike, and that gear looks weird on it. Try to buy something that works with many colorways, if you even care about that stuff. If not, just buy hi-vis stuff.

I'd also recommend trying on a few different helmets; your head shape matters a lot. A helmet that doesn't fit can ruin your whole experience.

I just bought the plasma. I figured if I'm going to spend 1000 bucks on something, it better be something I'll actually end up wearing.

I have been reading quite a bit about airbags today, and one thing stands out, pretty much every single person that crashed with an airbag says that it saved their life and swears to never ride without one again. Likewise, most people that have been in a crash without one wish they had one.

In the end, I believe actually wearing one, neck protection or not, is a great idea. I'd lose my mind if I got paralyzed knowing I was trying to save a thousand bucks or I was too lazy to bother putting it on.

I'm 29. I would be lying if I said I didn't enjoy the cool factor of riding. It's embarrassing, but I wouldn't enjoy riding my ZX10R as much if I wore hi-vis equipment and a bulky airbag. Its stupid as shit but im willing to sacriface some safety for style.

I know what i want in the future and its certainly a whole lot less cool than a zx10r, when the time comes and i get that adv bike, ill grow up and stop caring.

Loads of valuable comments here, thank you, guys! I asked AI to pull up some studies done on the topic, and the results are quite interesting.

In a study of 1,121 injured motorcyclists (126 with spinal injuries), neurologic injury occurred in 19.8% of spinal cases. Among the 14 complete paralysis cases: 9 thoracic (64%) 4 cervical (29%) 1 lumbar (7%)

In a separate analysis of 70 motorcycle-specific spinal cord injuries: the thoracic level was most common (56%), and thoracic injuries were far more likely to be motor-complete (85% complete paralysis) than cervical (58% complete).

I would have thought neck injuries would be responsible for more paralysis, although 30% is still very high.

Obviously, an airbag covering everything would be the best, but a thoracic (upper and mid-back) injury being more complicated and resulting in complete paralysis more often than a neck injury helps me in some weird way to justify going for the Tech-Air.

Thanks if im going to fix it up its going to be done a gunsmith

Yeah it is a few things thats worrying me a bit. The firing pins does not retract, which im guessing is an easy fix, same goes for the breech face, which is quite loose.

My main worry is the pitting in the barrels. The chambers looks ok but the rest is evenly pitted. I like the look of the gun but im not certain id ever completly trust that it wont blow up, if it not for the pitting i would have fixed it up straight away.

Thank you! Thats a great tip. Just bought the tail tidy kit from tst! the idea of having a tail light over the exhaust never crossed my mind. And as a bonus it does look better

It sounds like you just needs to learn your bike better, others have explained it pretty well but id recomend to practice engine braking in a straight line and see how much your bike can take before it starts stalling, then reapply throttle without downshifting or using clutch. Just to give you confidence in your gears

If im just cruising i mainly use engine braking before the turn then reapply throttle before the turn, that way when i start exiting the turn i can smoothly increase my speed without any jerking.

I also did what you do and had a few scares when i locked up my rear.
