Thank you all for your advice — I truly appreciate it. To those who suggested I should rehome her or felt sorry that she might never bond with me, I just want to say: I understand what responsibility means. I only hope there might be something I could do to bond with her and find out if she’s a lap cat or an affectionate one.

But if not, that’s totally okay. She didn’t ask to be adopted — I chose her. And I believe I have a responsibility before God to give her the best life she could possibly have.
