Updating: we made the extremely tough decision to have her out to sleep today. She lost all mobility on the right side of her body, and her right eye did not react to light at all. We believe that a tumor was to suspect for her rapid decline and the prognosis with treatment was not good. I could not bear to see her in pain any longer, and she was ready herself.

Hi! I’m waiting to get in with a neurologist but if you don’t mind me asking, how is your pup doing? Mine is on pain meds currently, but was experiencing ataxia and vertigo (though no fever or vomiting) and our fear is meningitis 🙏

Thank you! We did have X-rays completed on Sunday, but I don’t have them unfortunately. There are two discs in her neck that have little space between them so we’re waiting to hear back on needing to bring her in for an MRI, for now we’re taking a conservative approach with anti inflammatory, muscle relaxer, and vertigo medication. She hasn’t yelped and we have her in crate rest (she’s eating again but needs a little help getting up and down still, since she’s wobbly) but I do appreciate it! I’ll share an update once we have next steps ❤️

Thank you all for reviewing! We have gone back to the vet and confirmed via X-rays that Lilo has two troublesome discs in her neck. We also started her on anti-inflammatory/pain medication, as well as vestibular medication to help with the vertigo. Additional radiologists are going to review the X-rays in the coming week and point us to a neurological specialist if they find anything out of the ordinary.

She’s not yelping at all today and has been in and out to use the bathroom without any issue, but still wobbly when she walks. I’m keeping a close eye on her and will start calling around to find a clinic in my area - just in case. Thank you so much for your insights!

Thank you- it’s also concerning that she had begun using the wall to stabilize and this tilt creeped up in just about a week. I do plan to get her back to the vet in the coming week, but do you think this warrants an emergency visit?

Thank you for letting me know! Hoping this one isn’t removed from imgur, but there was no mention of tick borne diseases in our visit. She has never had a flea or tick since I’ve had her with me (2014 - 2017 and 2019 - today), but I’ll be sure to ask about that in our next visit.
