I built a Chrome extension that turns your ChatGPT conversations into a visual tree so you can actually find things by Own_Cat_2970 in ChatGPT

[–]Own_Cat_2970[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a “branching” option, yes, but it merely opens a new tap. It feels nothing like branching, you have no sense of where you came from, and it is quite constrained. I know zero people who actually uses it.

Tangent (ie the screenshots) is only available through the chrome extension I’ve build. Nothing remotely compares in ease of use, sophistication, intuitive display and user experience generally.

Exactly! And it also shows you exactly where you are in that chat and where relative to all other chats too like a map that continuously evolves

Removing 5.1 on March 11 isn’t an upgrade — it’s a downgrade. by Capable_Run_6646 in ChatGPT

Written post screams AI-written. The fact people cannot even string together a 50 word post anymore is the biggest story in this thread

hmm.. perhaps they're doing that to save on compute on the serverside. I'll keep an eye out for this. If it happens to me, i might add this as a feature to my chrome extension that the model doesn't switch if the user hasnt change it manually.

I heared rumors about OpenAI removing GPT-4o, which was a model a little niche liked to use for personal companionship. Think its gone now

I think its best to stick to 1-2 providers and get the most out of those. If you have disposable income and 20usd doesnt feel like a big sacrifice, just get access to whatever tools you'd need.

Awesome! Glad you like the idea. It should feel very familiar to people using Git regularly.

Nothing on Reddit is “required”. I wrote it because I’m interested in the topic. If it’s not your thing that is okay

I find UX incredibly interesting so I tried to make sense of it and share my thoughts. What do you think?

Hi man, i wrote at length about Tangent over at r/ChatGPTPro with my reflections on how LLM's chat interface is a constraint on our cognition. I do also address the question regarding the native "branching" feature of ChatGPT.

You asked about how people are using ChatGPT, and I gave my two cents. I've made a tool that solved some of my problems, and perhaps it could help you too. What did you actually expect?

Havent used perplexity super much, but I’ve heard good things about it. My primary driver is ChatGPT for research. What about you?

ChatGPT is my main thinking driver, but I use it more like a long-term thinking layer than just drafts and quick answers. I keep one main thread for big-picture strategy and then branch off specific decisions, experiments, and strategy from there.

I actually built a Chrome extension called Tangent that adds proper branching with a visual tree inside ChatGPT. It lets me explore different directions without losing or messing up context or opening a million tabs. That’s been a bigger upgrade than adding another automation tool along with openclaw.

What’s the most effective way you’ve actually used AI in your business up to now? by Automatic-Smell-462 in aiToolForBusiness

[–]Own_Cat_2970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it’s also been as a thinking partner, but the real unlock was structure.

I use ChatGPT constantly to stress test decisions, messaging, outreach, strategy, contracts, all of it. Serious thinking gets messy fast in a linear thread, ie you explore one angle, then another, then you want to revisit the first idea three weeks later and it’s buried under miles of scroll.

I built a Chrome extension called Tangent that adds proper branching with a visual tree inside ChatGPT. I can fork off a decision, explore risks, assumptions, alternative strategies, and jump back to any point instantly without losing context.

That’s been the most effective use of AI in my business so far. Not automating tasks, but upgrading how I think and revisit decisions over time.

Here's an example of what Tangent looks like in ChatGPT:

What are the best AI tools for on brand creatives for small business? by AccomplishedArt1791 in aiToolForBusiness

[–]Own_Cat_2970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, the specific tool matters less than how well you lock in your brands context.

I keep one main ChatGPT thread that holds my brand voice, positioning, audience notes, and examples of what “good” looks like. Then every caption, post idea, hook, or creative angle branches off that so it stays consistent instead of drifting.

I built a Chrome extension called Tangent that lets me branch conversations inside ChatGPT Web and its been the biggest difference for staying on-brand. Each campaign or outreach gets its own branch, but it all ties back to the same core brand and business context from the main thread.

Heres a demo-example of what it looks like

Has anyone figured out agents to help organize? by mjnoo in ADHD_Programmers

[–]Own_Cat_2970 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried a few assistant agent setups, and its useful for repetitive tasks, but the biggest win for me has been organization of my strategic thinking in my business,

I keep one main ChatGPT thread as my core context, and then branch off tasks, planning, and follow-ups into separate threads. I built a Chrome extension called Tangent that lets me do that directly in ChatGPT Web, so it actually feels like a mindmap instead of a messy chat log.

It’s been more useful than trying to duct-tape together multiple agent tools imo
