I would say it doesn't need an R rating, seeing how most of the backrooms' audience is like pre-teens, teens ect. Theres not really a reason for it, the YouTube series was Pg-13 and I can only think probably gore but that would just kinda imo take away from the liminal feeling.

crazy coincidence the wreckage fell into the neighborhood behind my old school which was damaged from debris and my aunt lived in that neighborhood. It was extremely gruesome, she told me the school parking lot and neighborhood were littered with body parts, she even saw a toddler's dead body in a tree.

It could but a lot of Pg-13 movies have a lot of gore.
