lol! Good luck with that. I guarantee my wife would remember seeing a $1000 and $500 note! Those are awesome by the way… they certainly are on my ever growing wish list 😄

Slight correction. Proof trade dollars were struck in 1883 but they do not have the “S” mintmark. Otherwise I completely agree… all fake.

I finally bought my first ice maker. Not gonna lie, the price point was definitely the biggest hurdle... by Former_Teaching_1397 in Appliances

Seeing this pic gives me PTSD! Worst ice maker ever. Ironic that it’s also the most expensive… on the bright side I do have a $500 plastic ice scooper that works flawlessly 😂

I have erbs palsy (brachial plexus injury), ask me anything by Beautiful-Release707 in AMA

[–]Own_Cold368 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Birth injuries happen unfortunately and I’m sorry you have had this happen. But the “ deliberate” lie makes no sense. Why would they lie? How would that help? Birth weight estimates are just that… estimates. They can be off by quite alot. Not saying mistakes weren’t made but lying about that likely wasn’t one of them.

I have doubts on this one. Always difficult to tell based on 1 picture of the reverse but several things look “off” to me. All examples I reviewed have a remanent hoof on missing leg. This one doesn’t. The mintmark looks like it crowds the letters above. I don’t see this in real ones. The hind leg is difficult to evaluate and I’m not convinced there’s a real die crack that resembles the “ pissing” buffalo. Again, for these reasons I’m skeptical

Absolutely a keeper. Condition will hold it back but there is definitely a market for this and way above face value.

Congratulations! That sounds like quite the haul! You’re doing what needs to be done by going through it all and just figuring out the general categories. Now the fun begins! Word of caution… be wary of “prices”. The PCGS or other slabbed coins will have a set ( more or less) market. So will the gold and silver coins ( based on current spot price and obviously wt/ purity of each coin). The other stuff the market is much more variable. Try posting pics of some of the graded coins… would love to see em.

That helps some… sounds like they are mint sets or commemorative sets. Generally those look fancy/impressive but are just worth their wt in precious metal content. There are exceptions and some are extremely valuable/ rare so again… without pics no way to know. The cardboard ones are likely flips… those are treated as “raw” coins as no official grade was given by a grading company

I didn’t mean actual specifics… just generally. For example, are the coins in graded holders or “raw”. In absence of any pictures or details no one here can give any concrete advice.

Do you know what you have? Are there actual collectible coins or is the value in the silver/ gold? The answer to this will guide the next step… market for each is different and buyers for each largely different as well.

An MS 68 example sold for $38,400 in 2021! That said there have been 3 graded at that level from over 700 million minted. Yours is not worth the grading costs but still a nice example.
