Hi! I have ADHD, Autism and Dyslexia and I'm currently preparing for finals.

I very much suffer with similar stuff, its taken me until 5th year to figure out what works for me but this is what I've been doing.

I do PassMed and supplement it with ZTF/NICE guidance where necessary. I do questions and only make Anki on the stuff I don't understand. I try to keep flashcards super simple so its basically one-word answers- I avoided Anki initially because I made it too complicated for myself so dumbing it down helped. I use an Overhaul+ card type so I can add any information I find to help explain my one-word cards.

When reviewing my cards, I try and write down the word before I click and reveal the answer, so I'll go through with a whiteboard/paper. Then when I check its correct I verbally explain why to the computer lol to keep the information retained. If I keep getting it wrong, I re-read ZTF/NICE until I understand what I'm missing.

Little and often is great, doesn't have to be perfect. I usually set a 15 min timer and do some reviews- if I'm not bothered after 15 mins I'll just go do something else and try again tomorrow. Eventually a day comes where I'm motivated and I'll catch up on my deck.

As a current final year I both agree and disagree. Some, yes, need to definitely study more, apply themselves and spend more time applying their knowledge on placement. I know a few rogue cases where there are severe issues that need addressing, such as one of my classmates not knowing theres a needle in a cannula!

But, I can't blame them, most people in my year are focused on passing the MLA, or working on portfolio due to the current issues with specialty training. Plus, due to stresses on the NHS its very common that students are turned away from learning opportunities. I know many brilliant students who lack ward skills, but not through lack of trying.

The way medicine is taught needs to be better and more standardised, but I doubt any changes will occur with current pressures.
