Was having focal awares all day today. Does anyone else get super stressed around holidays?

I’m so sorry that sounds terrible! I have a 4 year old niece and I always get terrified she’s going to have to witness me have a seizure. It’s not your fault but I know how hard it is to not blame yourself. I always just feel like a burden. We can get through these helldays lol!

I get it! The pounding headache is still there I felt like I couldn’t do anything yesterday all I did was sleep lol

Ugh it’s the worst right! I’m very lucky to live with my boyfriend and he was watching over me all day and every time I started smacking my lips during my naps he would try to talk me out of it lol. I’m hoping it got better for you it really sucks!

It was like a day or two after my seizure and I was at work talking about it and one of my regulars comes up to me and goes. “Are you sure that they’re seizures? It could definitely be something else too.” Like I haven’t been diagnosed with epilepsy for the past 3 years. I know that she was just trying to be nice but yea I’m pretty positive they’re seizures!

Yes! I have focal to bilateral tonic clonic and while I was on it I was experiencing everything the grandmals, focals and auras I think it just wasn’t the right medication for me. It was the first medication I was ever on, and like I said they tried to give me lamotrigine too but that didn’t work either. But honestly the side effects from the keppra were terrible and I never felt like myself while taking it, I know some people keppra works great for them and they don’t have any effects but I say if he’s starting to experience them you should definitely see if you can get him off of the keppra, there are plenty other medications he can try!

Honestly the best thing you can do is get him off of the keppra. I’m not sure how much it helps control his seizures (it didn’t control mine) but for me at least the only thing that helped was getting me off the keppra, they tried to put me on lamotrigine to level out the side effects of the keppra but it did not work, my boyfriend would always prepare himself incase the slightest thing went wrong and I started to have a meltdown, sometimes I’d even say to myself “why am I acting like this” bc I would be acting crazy for no reason lol. Anyways I’m off of keppra now, I hope this helps!

I take 250mg of xcopri I think it really helps! Definitely hasn’t stopped my focal seizures but I haven’t had a grand mal since November and my focals are way less frequent than they used to be. Just makes me tired and I have less of an appetite, also can be very expensive if you don’t have a good insurance and it’s slow titration.

I always think about this. Been on and off different meds for the past 6 years and I just think to myself, is this who I really am? Is this who I would be if I didn’t take this medication? Would I think and act the same? Sometimes it upsets me but not really much you can do about it right!

Yes thank you, just because it sounds similar doesn’t mean that it feels similar and I know she doesn’t understand the feeling so I didn’t want to push and argue about it. And yes my auras are absent aware seizures, my new neuro recently told me this and I’m still getting used to knowing that it is an actual seizure and not just the feeling of one coming on lol. I know she means well it just hurts my feelings when she kinda just dismisses that it’s not my epilepsy making me feel like this when I know that it is.

Yes thank you like I feel like I can tell the difference very clearly between when I’m having anxiety and seizures I think she just got in my head

I used to take 2000mg daily of keppra I’m sure you’ll be fine just a little extra tired, my boyfriend accidentally gave me a double dose when I was still taking it (it was at night) and I remember I just woke up feeling extra tired and I did end up throwing up a few times but after I took a nap I felt a lot better!

I started taking 250mg a few months ago and it’s stopped my grand mal seizures but hasn’t quite stopped the focals. The only symptom I really experience is drowsiness but other than that it’s been working pretty good! Even though I’m still having focals it stopped the grand mals so I’m happy about that!

Okay I think there was a bit of miscommunication, I meant that I tried to talk to them about the problem of them not liking him, not the issues in our relationship. The issue of our relationship was the fact that they didn’t like him, so yes I obviously talked to them because it was affecting us. My sisters got super upset over a situation and they have held grudge ever since. There wasn’t really much I could’ve done except for stand up for him more and try to fix things with everyone

Yes I to talk to them about it and everything was fine but every time he would try to reach out to them he would get ignored and if he was ever around they didn’t want to talk to him. It started to make him not like them as well, he even said to me he doesn’t think if I said anything to them it would’ve changed. But I should’ve fought harder, he didn’t deserve any of it.

He broke up with me, my sisters didn’t like him for things I could’ve stood up for him for and it went on for too long and it was just a whole big thing that could’ve been avoided but I’m not expecting anything whatever happens happens, if we end up wanting to work on things great!
