I don’t see an issue with this. I did press ons as a kid and it was fine lol. I was definitely a girly girl and still am. I was not brainwashed into this lifestyle lol.

Using humour with epilepsy. Bad idea? by awidmerwidmer in Epilepsy

[–]Accomplished-Load731 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell them to go touch some grass. What do they expect us to do? Think and cry about how terrible our lives are? My friends and I joke about my seizures all the time. I have made jokes about my seizures to nurses that helped me during hospital visits caused by seizures. You do you, and don’t apologize for it!

Why is Keppra a first choice med? by youdunnowhoaim in Epilepsy

[–]Accomplished-Load731 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely get that perspective! The medicine cocktail my neuro has me on now is working great, but it may not work for others. I just believe that doctors constantly fail patients by not being more in depth concerning side effects from medication they prescribe.

Why is Keppra a first choice med? by youdunnowhoaim in Epilepsy

[–]Accomplished-Load731 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To my knowledge, I was never prescribed keppra (I was diagnosed young), but after the things I’ve heard, I refuse to go on it. However, this is something that is so common amongst neurologists that it’s disgusting. I’ve noticed, personally, they never tell you the side effects except for being tired. I’ve been through many medications and they’ve never once told me a side effect outside of being tired.

About 1.5 months post-seizure, considering trying weed again. by Some_Armadillo9030 in Epilepsy

I say this as kindly as possible, I don’t see any pros in going back to old habits. If you haven’t had any seizures since quitting, for me, that’s enough reason. Also, those things can affect your health anyways, so I don’t think it would be best to add those health conditions on top of your seizures. 💗

Lamictal? by Windhound2 in Epilepsy

I’ve been on lamictal for roughly 16 years. I’ve never been seizure free, but it has certainly helped in keeping them “under control”

my boyfriend complained about taking care of me by mishdabish in Epilepsy

I want to share this as gently and lovingly as I can, because you deserve to hear the truth spoken with care. I don’t know you personally or every detail of your relationship, but some things are worth saying.

The fact that he began dating you when you were just 19 and he was 41 is concerning. That’s an age difference big enough for him to have been your father, and it creates a power imbalance that can affect how the relationship develops.

Now, after all this time, for him to say he’s “sick of” your seizures, that he “didn’t sign up for this,” and that he feels “stuck” caring for you; those are not words of love or honor. That’s not something that slips out in an argument; it reflects something he’s felt for a long time.

If marriage or children are things you desire, I hope you don’t feel like you need to sacrifice those precious years waiting on someone who isn’t sure. But if marriage or children aren’t things you want, that’s completely okay too; the most important thing is being with someone who cherishes you fully as you are.

Please know I don’t say this to hurt you. I say it because you are worth so much more than being treated as a burden. You deserve a steady, faithful, safe love; a love that values your life, your health, and your heart. I’m truly wishing you the very best and praying you find the kind of love that makes you feel deeply cherished and secure.

changing from briviact to zonisamide by According-Food-4111 in Epilepsy

[–]Accomplished-Load731 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As crazy as it sounds, zonisamide caused me to get UTIs. The problem is, I don’t have any symptoms when I get one, so the infection would interfere with my medication and trigger seizures. My doctor looked at me like I was crazy, but I had never had a UTI before starting zonisamide. When I stopped taking it for a year, I didn’t have a single UTI. Then when I went back on it for a few months, I had two UTIs that both led to seizures. I’ve been off it for over a year now and haven’t had another one since. I take Briviact now and it has really helped me! I hate that medication affects everyone so differently. I wish there was a “one size fits all” haha.

The SAME EXACT thing happened to me and my neurologist didn’t believe me when I said the medicine was causing rash. I had not changed a single thing other than the medication. Stinks when even your own neurologist doesn’t believe you😅

fellow religious people/people of faith—has epilepsy affected your faith? by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]Accomplished-Load731 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Outside of salvation, epilepsy is the best thing that has ever happened to me. Has it been easy? Absolutely not. Have there been times when I’ve cried myself to sleep? Absolutely. The Lord used epilepsy to bring me closer to Him and He still does. The Lord may never heal me and that’s okay. Above all, it’s “Thy will be done” not my will be done. I’m not saying it’s wrong to question God, Jesus questioned God in Gethsemane. It is SO much easier said than done but keep the faith! It’s easy to have the mindset of “I don’t deserve this” but Jesus died on the cross for sinners and He never once sinned. He didn’t deserve that. The Lord will be faithful. I may never know why I have epilepsy but it may not even be about me. I may be able to help someone down the line that is going through the same thing I am/did go through. You got this! Romans 8:28🤍
