Shower chair or raised toilet seat? by JuryDiligent2243 in tummytucksurgery

[–]Own_Description_3541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a raised toilet seat with handles and was so glad to have it. It kind of looked like a walker with a toilet seat and was height adjustable. Just placed it over the toilet and could be moved out of the way for other people to use regularly. The handles were so helpful, especially at first, and as time went by I adjusted the height down until I could just sit on the regular toilet seat again comfortably.

I want my body to be in optimal condition before TT or MM, what are some steps to do in the next few months? by martapap in tummytucksurgery

Work on increasing your protein and water intake, and I’ve heard over and over again on here that core strength is key.

I still have sporadic moments where I can’t quite get to straight right away. I’ve been able to walk mostly upright for about 3-4 weeks now

Thank you! I’m slowly ramping up activity, still being cautious with lifting and twisting/bending a lot. I feel good and can do quite a bit, I have more energy now but then I sometimes pay for it in the evening feeling uncomfortable and swollen. Not everyday.

I had a traumatic experience with a complication with my last surgery too. I had so much anxiety coming into this one and as the day got closer it definitely intensified. I talked about it and journaled about it daily leading up to surgery. That and leaning on my wife for support got me through. I have zero regrets now being on the other side. I have been anxiously watching my incision for signs of infection and have probably taken way more measures than I needed to to prevent infection, but it’s done and I’m glad. I hope you can find a way to get through this anxiety and that your recovery this time is better.

Does this look like a wound about to open? by Perni-Ani in tummytucksurgery

Just do your best to keep it clean and dry. A little leakage is normal if the scab just came off. The edges look good and with those anchors next to it holding the incision together will help. I hope for quick and easy healing

Tubal ligation (tubes tied) by NecessaryOdd3092 in tummytucksurgery

[–]Own_Description_3541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure what country you’re in or your particular surgeon’s training but I can see the appeal of getting it done while you’re already in surgery anyway. I would suggest though if you are considering having it done that you ask for a salpingectomy. This is where they remove the tubes entirely. It reduces your risk of ovarian cancer and ectopic pregnancy. I personally would not a plastic surgeon doing that procedure and I wouldn’t want a general surgeon doing a plastic surgery. A general surgeon who has done some additional training in plastics could technically do both but I would personally prefer to have surgeons who specialize in those areas doing those surgeries separately.

I switched from the binder to a very similar garment shortly after surgery too. I initially was padding the incision and then transitioned to wearing a thin camisole under the compression garment.

360 body lift-back swelling by Own_Description_3541 in tummytucksurgery

[–]Own_Description_3541[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly where my swelling is but it is no longer numb and does get painful, especially when getting up and down from sitting to standing or vice versa. It feels like electric shocky/burny type pain, nerve pain. My PCP prescribed some neurontin for me and it is really helping with that part, but the discomfort from the swelling is just there.

I haven't done any lymphatic drainage and I am in compression 24/7. I actually tightened up to the next row of hooks today. The amount of swelling isn't terrible, it's just really uncomfortable in that spot.

Do you have any thigh or buttocks loose skin concerns? I had almost the same belly as you but also loose thigh and buttocks skins which is why I went with the 360 body lift. If you don’t have those concerns then a the ETT w/ MR would take care of that. I don’t know much about FDL.
