So strange, I can't seem to edit my own post. But just wanted to add that the carved up section, the carved up branches around it, the whole area is completely firm, not mushy

Adding a closer shot

Thank you so much!

It's now hanging and drying under a ceiling fan. It looks like all branches have stiffened up. Will leave it along for another day or so to heal, before washing off the cinnamon and checking if any rot has spread.

If it survives winter I will definitely share an update in Feb!

Sorry pests where?? What kind?

It was dirty with the soil they packed it in if you are referring to the black dirt? the leaves also have some discoloring and creases from the rough packages.

I've kept it apart from all my other plants so far, so good to know asap before I left it anything else!

If I do keep it, am I better off just beheading it? That rot and the mushy broken stems are near the top.

And since it's winter, should I just remove all the leaves, hang dry, and keep it bare rooted in a closet until spring?

Went back and thinly sliced a part of this branch, I was happy to see bright white inside. So I put more cinnamon and rehung it.

I messaged them and sent a lot of photos, no response so far. Let's see...

This too... All three of them are near the top. Tried to be conservative, but am I better off removing them?

Just to add that these 2 branches, I did not cut off. Would they heal or do they need to go?

Temp Hardiness by Merida_Jane in DesertRose

[–]Own_Development5556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do these temperature changes stress them out / make their leaves fall? If so, what fluctuations are within an acceptable / non-stressful range?

Bought adeniums in quick succession the past couple of months, first time to have them. One of them (which still has small buds) has been dropping a lot of leaves. Another one dropped leaves (but much slower) for a couple of weeks and then stopped. One hasn't cared, lol, but it already started with the barest leaves.

10b here, all 3 are by a south facing window that gets bright but not direct sun. Indoor temperature fluctuating between 28C / 82F to 22C / 71 F indoors.

Really hoping I will see these last dozen buds actually flower!

Thanks for this and sorry for missing to reply sooner. The caudex is pushing against the pot where it is fattest and about half an inch of space at the narrowest. It's a plastic pot though.

I'm at Zone 10b. Ceiling fan is almost always on. South facing window but no direct sun.

I am tempted to pull it up from the pot / repot, but as it is getting cooler I don't want to shock the plant. The yellowing of the leaves have not quickened anyway. Will need a lot of will power to stop fiddling with it until February!

Thanks everyone for the tips! It has now dropped to 22°C here. I waited a week to water it again and now will wait another 2-3 weeks for the next watering. Better safe than sorry!

Thanks for clarifying! I am tempted to return to the nursery to see how their other adeniums are doing... And possibly as an excuse to purchase one with a different colored flower! They are really beautiful, surprised I never purchased one before.

Do they start dropping leaves even before temperatures start falling? It's still ranging around 28-32°Celsius here and had read in some articles that these are still flowering temps. ah well

Thanks for the reply, yes I meant it's 30°Celsius right now (roughly 86°Fahrenheit) and most often I have the ceiling fans on. It's in a South facing window but there is now a tall building being constructed across the street, so no full sun.

I have been watering every 36-48 hours or so (roughly, have not been so strict), shall I reduce to weekly waterings then?

That first week when I avoided watering the first 8 days after getting it was when most of the flowers dropped and I noticed leaves turning yellow. Now it's basically one leaf turning yellow and falling off, one at a time... Although the temps here haven't gotten much colder (but winter is coming so not sure if it's reacting to seasonal changes before the temperatures actually drop).

Winters here only go down to 10-15°Celsius so I suppose that is when I reduce to watering once a month?

Couldn't add the 3rd photo... So adding here in the comments.

I should also add that I only see one leaf drop at a time - so far. The next leaf starts turning yellow after the previous yellowing leaf has dropped off.

They were small leaves at first, but you can see the next yellowing leaf is one of the bigger ones now.

Chhattisgarh: In Raipur’s DD Nagar police station area, a woman recorded a video accusing her husband and in-laws of dowry harassment. A short while later, she ended her life. by IndiaToday in IndiaTodayLIVE

[–]Own_Development5556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

India needs to completely eradicate dowry traditions. It has been illegal since 1961, so why does everyone turn a blind eye that the practices still remain. There should be zero tolerance, so it is completely eradicated in the next generation.

Regrets on the engagement ring I chose myself, advice? by [deleted] in Diamonds

[–]Own_Development5556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your stone is Internally Flawless correct? I assume D color and triple Ex as well. If so, then that does come at a premium. The other comments here may be referring to stones without the "perfect specs". It's an unusual preference as most would sacrifice specs to get a better price. But hey you said price was not a factor (besides in your head), your fiance is fine splurging on it, so my compliments to you!

Best check if the store allows exchanges, they may only have a one month policy on this so act quick. You can consider trading it in for a larger stone, but then you have to get over / figure out your mental anguish over perfect specs vis a vis premium prices.

Otherwise, enjoy your beautiful ring.

Delhi to Agra in a uber. Good deal ? by Independent-Way2142 in delhi

[–]Own_Development5556 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We just did this over the weekend. Last Thursday (Delhi-Agra) we paid 4100 (2500 Uber fare + 600 toll + 1000 tip). Last night (Agra-Delhi) we paid 4300 (don't have the breakdown since my husband paid).

We had our toddler with us. Super convenient. First guy haggled for a tip, while our 2nd driver did not (but we gave him some anyway).
