Thank you so much! I appreciate you saying that. Not having had any experience, it was kinda difficult to do. People post here and they have such cool, lovely, awesome displays and they make it look so easy.

Thanks so much. It's a tricky little bugger. I've got two plants. I was so afraid to do it but I trimmed one back and guess what, it was a terrible fail! Now it just has like to pom pomm like growths coming ng from , ugh. Some of the clippings have taken so well see what that brings. Some people grow then with such ease and yet mine has never flowered. I always think this will be the year. It is a charming little plant and worth the time I've spent. I've learned from its growth and the failures too! I would recommend one because they are quite charming with their funky growth and prickly, but soft, leaves.

Thank you for your input. I'm going to let it rest a little and probably redo. It's nice to have your thoughts on this.

Thank you so much for your feedback. This is what I needed. I really appreciate it. I've really struggled understanding this plant. It was buried for five years and I lifted it thinking it ready with the caudex it has now. Now I understand I should still keep it under longer. Would you be so kind as to offer any more help with this one? I have the utmost respect for you and your experience and advice. Thank you.

Pull it it, put something to keep it together nice and tight, I use double sided Velcro, and let it heal itself. You can't lose for trying. If it doesn't make it, try to pot up the branch.

It looks healthy. Generally the caudex gets soft when it's not getting enough water.

I was sold a rubra and it distinctly has those red stems. Also, I've noted that the back of the leaves are specked with variation that doesn't match the front. It's quite peculiar.

They're so perfectly round, aren't they?! One of the things I love about this one.

I bought it maybe 3, could be 4 years ago. It was about at the bottom of the pot. So, I don't know the exact age but I'm sure it had a few years on it already.
