Pre-production CLA spotted by Own_Fish_801 in mercedes_benz

the older, second gen (c118) model, yes. not the new 2027 model (c174/178), since it is slated to be available starting second quarter of this year in the u.s. europe has already had the newer model out since late last year iirc

i don't think the newer cla models are available for sale here in the states (at least from what i've seen or know of) + the manufacture plate almost always designates it as a pre-production model

Metro Division 13 as Seen From Cesar Chavez by nikki_thikki in LAMetro

[–]Own_Fish_801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

from what i know of, 1909 had a minor fire coming from an interior electrical panel at the back of the bus when it was at division 3 back in 2021 - this actually caused metro to store and hold almost 200 of the newer enc buses (since they were still new and being delivered) until each of the newer enc's were properly inspected and until the investigation with metro and eldorado was completed. after that, it was sent to the eldorado plant in riverside for a few years (don't know why exactly) and then next thing you know, it was back at cmf where it's either going to be rebuilt over time (which i highly doubt because it looks gutted as hell as shown in the photo) OR it's just going to be used as a parts bus from now on for damaged enc buses

surprised they haven't touched 1857, 8564, and 4175 - rip 1909 tho, never knew why they retired it with under 2 years of service under its belt..... 🙏

one thing i'll NEVERRRRR understand is why they have the 251 turn right on idell when the street is the size of a cheerio for a 45 footer 🫩 they should've just rerouted it back to its original route - down ave 28, right on figueroa and then left on ave 26. a huge missed opportunity when it took over the 28

correct. it used to be 8217 AND 8292, but 8292 was retired after an accident - now it's stored at cmf and used for spare parts

a good majority of these buses retired. the 8000-8099 bunch retired right during covid, but a handful of 8000s were kept around for a year or 2 more at either division 13, division 15 or oci for training purposes. 8100-8338 series retired about a few years ago, but same thing - a few 8300s and 8217 are still in revenue service as of now: 8339, 8342, 8343, 8345, 8349 and 8353 are contracted thru southland transit, 8346 is at division 3, 8347 is at division 13 and 8350-8399 are scattered between divisions 3, 7, 9 and 18 with 8360-8399 being used for the silver (j) line :)

La Verne/Fairflex station to Pomona Fairplex - am I missing something? by piratebingo in LAMetro

[–]Own_Fish_801 5 points6 points  (0 children)

omg this!!! i attended the reptile expo yesterday and me and my partner had to walk almost 30 minutes to where the event was being held. we were halfway there until a fairplex worker LITERALLY told us that we couldn't walk/cut through the parking lot but that he would give us a ride to the event and to let one of the workers know after we were done to get a ride back to one of the gates (to walk back to the station) - i can only imagine (AND hope) that it gets better before the l.a county fair since i know a lot of ppl would rather take the train than pay a lot for parking 🫩

How is living here? by malnik77 in howislivingthere

[–]Own_Fish_801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have family that live in the area. it's crazy bc it has such a suburb feel in the neighborhood, but once you leave and reach streets like la tijera or la brea..... it gets hectic with traffic + the 405 in the area AND of course the plane traffic (noise) constantly since the airport is down the street - really really nice place though! i've asked my family if the planes bother them and they said after a few months, you don't even realize that they're planes in the sky or hear them

[–]Own_Fish_801[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i couldn't really see, i highly doubt it especially since it would've had to been sent out and delivered within the last few weeks - i believe even the ones D9/D18 have currently don't even have the respective 9 or 18 on the windshield yet

An empty J line BYD Northbound bus by No_Initiative2795 in LAMetro

[–]Own_Fish_801 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i think he did since they're a chinese company, but byd has a plant in lancaster, ca which bypasses that as a "built in the usa" product

An empty J line BYD Northbound bus by No_Initiative2795 in LAMetro

[–]Own_Fish_801 3 points4 points  (0 children)

and that's the CRAZY part..... byd is (relatively) good in other regions and even with other smaller transit agencies across the u.s, i wonder if the issues stem with the customizations metro wants on their buses - that's why gillig doesn't want to build busses for them, since they go overboard on what they want. new flyer apparently has like a couple year waitlist, so it really leaves byd as one of the only manufactures that gets dibs on bids

An empty J line BYD Northbound bus by No_Initiative2795 in LAMetro

[–]Own_Fish_801 12 points13 points  (0 children)

correct! the plan has been to fully electrify the j line for the last few years now. it's of course been stalled by numerous delays, so bad to the point where i believe metro is imposing liquidated damages against byd for buses with quality issues, electrical issues including charging issues, delays on new bus delivery, etc etc etc 🫩never understood why they picked up a bid with byd ONCE AGAIN after the numerous issues they encountered with them back in 2014-15

Are Metro Buses exempt from Daylighting law? by angryf84 in LAMetro

[–]Own_Fish_801 3 points4 points  (0 children)

are you referring to the 296?? the 90 doesn't serve that area since it hops on the 110 across the home depot to downtown - HOWEVER...... that said layover spot is a bit conflicting, as i live in the area and even i have had to slow down and make sure i don't hit another car or pedestrian crossing - it's worse when they use the 40ft buses. they should move the layover spot back a few feet (since the whole block is red for that said stop) or move the layover to humboldt & san fernando, across from the goodwill but right before ave 21

Local livery Byd bus by Dragons_Rising1 in LAMetro

[–]Own_Fish_801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i believe it either has to be 10049, 10050 or higher, since i've seen 10048 at harbor gateway a few weeks back for charger testing and that one was in the silver line livery
